$25. At least on my DDM slim kit I have a harness that hooks straight to the battery. It puts out a lot more light than my beater using stock wiring.

The light on the ground in the first pic looks like 6000K, that's what I have on 2 of my cars and will continue to use. Remember a 35 watt HID kit puts out over 3000 lumens, where as most halogens are around 1200 lumens. A 55 watt kit will be near 4000 lumens and way too bright to use on the road.

Here's my 6000 K Apexcone's in a refractor lens, no projector. Terrible cutoff but I can see great, no police issues either.

Its not he cops you should worry about. Its just annoying for other drivers who are coming towards you. If you are putting HID"s in the low beams they should be in Projectors ONLY. Unless you have an HID headlight assembly (newer nissans for example) that do not use projectors.

Highbeams are a different story. However HID's are not designed to be turned on and off. Thats why many cars do not come with HID's in the high beams, just the low beams only :)

How long did it take you guys to get yours from DDM?

while it's still not an ideal 'retrofit', using a D2R bulb in an OEM reflector headlight housing is going to work just fine and shouldn't be blinding to anyone. people always mess up by buying cheap HID kits that come with poorly designed D2S bulbs that are made for projectors. even in projectors, cheap kits are easy to spot, but it's fail x 10 in a reflector housing.

and yeah, i'll second that comment about the HIDs in high beams... don't do it. HID bulbs are meant to come on and stay on. all the OEM companies and every bit of reliable info out there says to be careful about turning your lights on and off again even within 5 minutes. it causes all kinds of unnecessary wear. there needs to be enough time for the lamp to come on and warm up. high beams would be a bad idea because you're always flicking them on, then off again when traffic comes.

Good luck with the DDMs...mine lasted ~6 months.

i went with a 4300k bi-xenon set up. i have reflector housings and i have almost perfect cut off lines and everything. i got lucky with my car. i get flashed every now and then. not to often. but the bi-xenon works awesome. how it works is attched to the bulb is a small motor which simplys moves the bulb back and forth. when its in high beam mode it pulls the bulb back and allows more light of the lamp. low beam is the opposit.
i glad i went with 4300k i wanted the stock hid look and whenever an acura TL pulls up next to me his light and mine are blended the same. ive had them in my car for about a year now and no problems at all. wish i had projectors though

That's the truth. I know RSX's are like that, perfect cut off in a reflector housing. My cars 4300k bulbs look like dookie in my reflector housing but its all good. I'd love to do a retrofit in some eBay headlights.

i have honestly no idea, lol
i guess its prob something to do with the projectors.

NoLeftTurn 01-12-2009 04:50 PM

had the 6000k's on my car, found it to be a little too blue for my taste and switched over to 4300k. love 'em.
on a side note, i also have 6000k's on my ninja, i love the blue look on the bike but man, when it gets dark that blue color just doesn't light things up as well as the 4300k's do

itsmatttt 01-12-2009 08:36 PM

I have an 8k kit and id like to switch over to a 6k cause its just a little too blue for me but its fine for now but in the rain with the blue I cant see anything.

I have 55w 5000k hid's in my car (with projectors) and once they finally warm up they are bright white with just a hint of light blue. the warmup is actually pretty cool with 55w because it goes from a light teal color, to purple, to blue and then to it's final color. I would never go below 5000k because it's just stupid. oh and whoever has hid's without projectors is a ****ing idiot. I don't care if they're leveled to the ground or not, it's annoying as hell.

bastid 01-14-2009 07:54 PM

I prefer the look of 6000Ks to the 4300Ks, but anything higher than 4300K and you actually lose light output. The bluer the light, the less it puts out.

Kevin 01-16-2009 03:09 AM

what he said. i would never go anything but 4300k.
so glad i picked those kind. the idea of headlights is to see, having colored light serves no purpose to me, id rather see whats in front of me

CleanNeon98 01-16-2009 03:55 AM

Yea, I really want to change to 4300.

Kevin 01-16-2009 04:31 AM

Yea, I realized it tonight when I pulled up to Wawa and saw my headlights against the glass in the front of the store. The color just looks PERFECT.

you do realize that 4500k has better light output than 5000k? I know this because my dad has 4500k in his Camry.

My 5000k 55watt's are perfect. They're bright as ****, they're mainly pure white but have a slight hint of blue. They definitely stand out from regular halogen crap.

twitchh17 01-25-2009 03:18 AM

6000k is legit.. white with a little blue tint.. 8000k is pushing it.. anything over is asking fora ticket foreal

JSpecV03 01-25-2009 04:05 AM

4300k, the OEM hid color is my personal fav and what im using in my car.

oh whoops... I meant to type never go ABOVE 5000k. but yeah, 55watt rules.
