I hit a tree while racing. I went off trail, hit a tree with my feet which spun me around to hit another with the back of my head. I suffered a contusion (cracked my skull), bruised my brain, and leaked brain fluid out of my left ear - doctors had to repair my ear drum with skin from my inner elbow - I still can't hear 100% today. I was unconscious for a week and lost most memory of my childhood. It took me a month to walk again. Every day in the hospital after I woke up, they'd show me the same movie because I couldn't remember it from the day before. If it wasn't for my helmet, I would not be here today.

Cliff notes: Wear goddam helmets.

Sounds like the Truama Neuro Intensive Care at Lehigh Valley Hospital.

Rule of thumb when dealing with head injuries, if its clear and sticky leave it alone. Cerebral Spinal Fluid is no joke, sounds like you ruptured the blood membrane in the brain.

Did you get a medevac ride at least?

I rode at Bear Creek like crazy in 06, didnt ride last year (wasnt really that good of conditions)... hoping to ride this year though.

That usually the only place I'll go unless my friends drag me out to Mountain Creek. My boy goes to school up near Camelback too, so I might pop up there this year since he lives close.

Im so local to Bear Mountain I just go to the bar there :)

Or the tavern down the street if Im low on cash and standards lol.

We did a trip to Camelback last year...we're in the process now of setting up this winters

I used to go there, but then I realized that I hated the crowd there.. Too many people and too much money for what it was worth.

I love Bear Creek and now that I'm of age, I will be there at the bar when I'm not riding.

It was actually up at Sugarbush, North. I don't know what they call it now.

Yes I was heli-lifted off the mountain but I don't remember any of it, obviously. Too bad, too, who knows if I'll ever get another helicopter ride in my life. :o

good to see there are a few bear creek locals on here. the last 5 years in a row, bear's pretty much been my winter home haha. hell i worked there 4 of 5 years lol.

if anyone has any suggestions for the park and wants them sent right to the top, let me know. my brother is a year-round park crew employee (welding, fab, maint.) and is the park crew asst. manager. he's in the groomer every night.

we should definitely get some people together and head up there and ride once the season gets moving. of course a stop at (and then return to) the bar will be manditory haha.

R_Rambo 12-08-2008 09:14 PM

^im game. i believe i heard they do something for new years eve. anyone know of this? i think that would be a cool thing to get a bunch of people to go to. and i hate not being 21 hot chocolate for me! f***

DC2.2GSR 12-08-2008 09:19 PM

yeah new years at BC is usually pretty cool. it's hit or miss though, sometimes there's not much going on. they do stay open til 1am though, instead of 10pm like usual.. so thta's pretty cool.

Adam496 12-08-2008 09:23 PM

I've been to Snow and boulder already this year....and Mt. Creek finally opened today so im set... anybody ride up there?

DC2.2GSR 12-08-2008 09:53 PM

i've never been to mtn creek, but being 'in' with the BC crew puts me in a bit of a biased position when it comes to anything to do with mtn creek. lol all the BS they pull with advertising and trash talking every other mtn in the few magazine articles they've had written... it makes me not want to go there.

how's boulder so far? i've never been there either, but i think i will probably go sometime this year.

i figured i would bring this thread back. who has gone riding a lot this year? i went to sugarbush for a long weekend and i go to mountain creek usually 2-3 days a week.

anyone on here ride at mountain creek?

TROLL 01-25-2009 12:05 AM

I was at Jack Frost last Friday and Camelback today (free tix, thanks Subaru!).
I'm trying to get out more this year than I have been the past couple. Going to school in CO really ruins you once you move back east... hard to stay motivated.

ive been to mountain creek 4 times this year
mount snow around 4 also
okemo over 10(i love their parks)
hunter once
gore once
and a local mountain(thunder ridge) for night riding out of complete boredom on most nights (the actual park sucks so they pretty much just allow you to build features in the park area plus theres a bunch of inperfections in trails so its somewhat like backcountry riding) its basically a ghetto mountain lol.

sometimes ill wear a helmet if not i usually wear a hat, goggles, a hoodie, and snowpants. park only days i wear a helmet but usually an open hoodie with a tshirt under it and basketball shorts since hiking back up the park sucks in heavy and bulky gear unless its below like 10 degrees outside

**note: helmets DO NOT do anything when you smack your goggles into a rail.**
