I care 'cause it's part of a Photo contest so they're SUPPOSED to be good photos. And the news was slow today so I had to complain about something to pass the time.

If I have no before photography taken skills, I personally would of thought it was a decent photo. The sky is a nice deep blue and all.
But fast forward to now, I agree with you, the photo does have some distracting features of it. But the guy who took it, is probably not a amateur photographer like you or me. So of course the photo is going to suck in our eyes. |

I agree that the one posted by HibachiZ28 is not great, but is decent if the dude is just learning.
There are worse photos out there to complain about... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...svtetr_hdr.jpg |
Okay.. now I mean to be a dick... look at one of the photos that made it to voting... That's bull**** and I give up on that forum for photo of the month:

What's the big deal? It's not like it's a photography forum. People like photos for different reasons. Just because you don't like the photo doesn't mean somebody else will.
|
The big deal is that crap photo made it. The others are fine. I am just a selfish bastid and feel like complaining :)
|
Aww, I feel your pain. I see some of the stuff people post, and I am like "WTF? Did you take that with your eyes closed and your left hand?" I don't like to claim my photography is the best stuff ever, but a lot of stuff really pisses me off and I don't see why you get these photo fanboys that are like "whoa man, that's like THE **** right there! that's so good" and like a model's feet are amputated or something.
I LOL'd when I saw this thread... because you had the balls to actually make a thread about bad photography. |
just admit that you love being a dick lol

If theres tits or pretty colors involved they will vote for it. My picture happens to be #1 on that list. I posted it up for the hell of it, never thinking it would make it to be selected. You can't even see the god dam car and its for car of the month!

solution: Take a good pic and submit it to win?

As with you, I know my stuff is not the best. Hell, I work with a photographer whose been shooting for the last 30-40 years and he is incredible and I am privileged to be working and learning from him. You know, before he came here, he was making $2500 a day whether he was used for 30 minutes, or 24 hours. I WISH I could make that! :) Quote:

I PERSONALLY think that they should do a submission thread that removes the authors so you can't "vote for your friend" if you don't know who it is :-P Not directed at you, but to some of the other "clicky" people on there. Quote:

the first picture that started this thread isn't that bad (minus the quality of the picture). if you try to find all the flaws with it then your going to. overall though, its following with recent trends in advertising which is what people see everyday, and thats darkness. outlines, silhouettes, bright lights among dark alleys/cities, etc. These are all things that advertisements use(think of scion, or GTO commercials, anything really) AND. . that being a very commercial looking photo, appeals to the masses of people. it's really nothing to get extrememly bent out of shape about. its a photo, people like photos, some people don't like photos, but theres such an abundance of different ones that if you dont like that one, then find another.
so just be easy, and accept that different folks like different strokes. and your photo has flaws i could pick out too. so do mine. everyone's photos do. oh well. /rant |
The contrast is the only thing that really bothers me. How the sky drastically goes from light to dark over the picture.
|
Art is too subjective, I like that first pic a lot. I like that pic right above this post a lot too.
It's not like you can line them up and run them at the track - they are both unique pieces of work with their own plusses and minuses. I.e. the plus is that they are nice photos, the bad is that they both have f-bodies in them. :p But I'm no expert. |

worry less about others and focus more on what you can control. No need to give yourself a cold sore over it. |
if it makes u feel better, its a terrible photo. doesnt look well planned obviously. But, most people on forums, especuially f body ones probably dont know much about photography
