with the whole grinding issue.....i think its just the 6 speed transmissions in general.....my spec has the same problem...that is if im not paying attention or just half ass a shift (usually 2nd to 3rd).....i will grind.....and sometimes if i start out in 1st gear and take off and give about 60-70% throttle....when i go to shift to 2nd around 4500 itll feel like its popping out of 1st gear when i go to shift....but i dont usually drive my car that hard.....so its a rare occasion....

u are discouraged because of tranny problems with the rsx-s, and people are sugesting evos and wrxs..an evo stock clutch sucks ass, and the wrx trannys before 06? suck...this is wat im under the impression of from both people i know wit the cars n bein on this forum

Sounds like you might like a WRX / Audi S4 / something along those lines.

Of course, the Audi will rob your bank and kill you, so I'll say stick with the WRX.

no car, ever, is going to be perfect.

the title of this thread remind me of a movie...

I'm thinking about getting a Tercel. Yup, that's a Toyota.

anyone know it?

pinacup7 02-06-2008 07:12 PM

Im a tech at acura. Your right about the trannys but thats only for 03 and previous. 04 and up have been very good, as long as you keep up on your fluids and filters hondas/acuras are the most reliable cars on the road. The tl is a great car and fun to drive. You can even try to find a used tl type s now, they are even nicer. Especially the 6 speeds, you cant get traction with them until 3rd gear.

Thinking about leasing....

you won't lease anything "quick" for 20k...

You're gonna have to buy used, or possibly look into the Caliber SRT-4... :screwy:

SovXietday 02-06-2008 10:37 PM

You can get 98-00 C5 Z06s for 20K.

maximaserg 02-06-2008 11:00 PM

STI's reliable?

so.. wait, acura tech says that there are no probs with newer models, while others say the opposite. I know all TL's have probs for a fact.

If i do lease i know ill have to go with something above 20 000.

well just have to see.

haha Im telling you the new 04 and ups are fine as long as you change the trans fluid every 30K. I have seen 04s with 160,000 miles on stock trans. But you know all tl's have prob for a fact... sorry but your wrong.
