so i was reading up on dsmtuners and found someone else that had similar symptoms to mine. turns out his ecu was fried. so its not looking too good for me right now. prolly gonna be on the lookout for an eprom soon

Sometimes a new ECU won't fix the problem you described. But it is worth a shot, especially if your going to invest in an Eprom.

well im pretty sure i'm already equipped with an eprom but i havent checked yet. i read that after the isc install, the isc chip melts itself for some stupid reason so that would be the only thing i'd need. i'll have to dig it up and check. the only thing that leads me to believe i might be in the clear is because the other guy didnt have a CEL and i do. Also his car would stall after starting but drive fine, and mine doesnt stall. I wont know till i rip it apart but those are the only two things keeping my hopes alive. :furious:

i really need my logger to get here and a diagnostic tool to figure out wtf is goin on. dsm=frustrating

Willdue 09-19-2007 11:33 AM

That thing is SEXY. I loveee that color. Ill trade you rims lol. Only see one flaw on it, and thats good for a 2ga. Great pick up!!! 5 Spd? Things screaming for a CF hood lol.

Edit: Not sure exactly how the Turbo models R, but mine was doing that, And i replaced the Cam Shaft Sensor, and it fixed the idle problems.

97TurboDSM 09-19-2007 11:50 AM

what size rims and such are you running? i like the color if thats really what they are. i think dark rims would look killer on my car. it is indeed a 5spd. the idle problem is fixed for now, when i took out the isc motor it was definitely fried but now i dunno wtf to do about the ecu. also, what flaw you talking about? i'd assume its the paint marks on the passenger side? those should be easy to get off i just havent gotten to it yet. but def lemme know bout your wheels.

Willdue 09-19-2007 12:03 PM

There 18" black. Yea, the ones in my avy on my car. It looks like theres a dent by the gas door? Or maybe its a reflection?

97TurboDSM 09-19-2007 12:19 PM

yea there is, its really tiny though. dudes wife backed up into it. the paint isnt damaged at all, just paint transfer from her car and a small dent. oh well. im gonna search around for pictures of your wheels and we can talk. mine are 17" just to let you know

Willdue 09-19-2007 12:29 PM

I know. I think the lip would look sick on mine. Ill pm u pic

97TurboDSM 09-19-2007 12:35 PM

thats one real reason why i really like my wheels, because of the lip ha. tread on my tires is really good. almost brand new tires. what color are yours? are they black or gunmetal. they look different from different angles.

Willdue 09-19-2007 12:51 PM

very dark gunmetal

97TurboDSM 09-19-2007 12:56 PM

i'd like to see them in person before i make any decision. i really like the idea of the lip but its not a necessity....on a different note, someone help me figure out wtf is wrong with my ecu.

Willdue 09-19-2007 01:02 PM

juss lemme know when u wanna see em. my zip is 18052

97TurboDSM 09-19-2007 01:04 PM

cool i'll let you know.

TrboChicsRock 09-19-2007 01:11 PM

Have you tried pulling the ecu and seeing if you can smell it? Usually it smells like rotten eggs I've heard. If you live anywhere near the Thursday night Freshworks meet you can try my ECU tomorrow. I obviously would need it to get back home that night though lol. I have a dsmlink chip in it too so you can check to see what your check engine light is also.

97TurboDSM 09-19-2007 01:15 PM

i havent pulled it yet no, i just smelled burning. ive also heard about the rotten eggs thing. im pretty sure im not real close to the freshworks meet but then again i've never been nor do i know where exactly it is ha. im going to go check the ecu now.

97TurboDSM 09-19-2007 02:37 PM

well i just got under there and smelled around. i couldnt get the plugs out of the ecu and got fed up so i stopped trying. i got as close as i could and didnt smell rotten eggs or burning so im not really sure what the deal is. i did however take the radio bezel off and found a cluster**** of wires that im trying to figure out what to do with. im really just stuck at this point.

omg isn't that a bitch? I get so frustrated when I try and do work with it. DSM's are the worst engineered cars ever.

97TurboDSM 09-19-2007 09:13 PM

i was getting so damn pissed because the stupid gas pedal was in my way so i gave up. i'll have a go at it again tomorrow i guess.
