Ive only owner 1 car with under 100k, so I pretty much expect the maintenance that needs to be done around 100k... it'd actually probably be weird to own a car that didn't need it.

you keep saying that dsms are reliable but that could be further from the truth. its a car with moving parts like any other on the road. if you keep up on your maintenance then cars will last forever no matter who made them. my car has 120k on it with more track/street runs then i can count. besides my tranny problems ive had 0 issues with the car(those trannies only went because i shift like a gorilla). why? not because its a nissan because i do every maintenance on time. that just doesnt mean, oil, filter, plugs. theres lots of others, all you have to do is get a service manual and it has all the schedueled maintenance in there. theres seals, gaskets, tranny flushes,diff,tcase,radiator, ect ect.


gl with w/e you choose, but if you want to go fast dont buy a s2k...

A whole other world will open up when you drive a good handling car. From what you have posted on here, it doesn’t sound like you are looking to become a dedicated drag racer and are just looking for a fun, fast car that you can drive anywhere you want to go. Lets face it, you get in trouble for driving fast in a straight line on public roads but a cop isn’t going to pull you over for going faster than the ‘suggested’ speed limit on an off ramp or going around a curve faster than another car. You can enjoy a good handling car every day of the week (aside from rush hour) while there are limited times when you can open up a powerful car. If you want some thing that is new, fun, and has some oomph to it then I would get the S2K. If you are looking for power and handling for under 10k, why not get an LS1 FC? They usually sell for under 10k and you will get a good handling car that has a ton of power and with a motor that usually has under 60k on it. The only downsides are the age of the car and if you don’t like the looks.

Its up to you but I am just going on what you have said in this thread.

Yeah I dont care too much about being fast, i'd like to be somewhat quick, and I can live with low 14's if the car looks good lol.

Im sure there are a lot of DSMs out there that have been maintained well and are reliable. I unfortunately was wrong about the previous owner of the Talon being a reliable owner. I was told **** was done that wasnt, and i made the mistake of taking his word on it instead of replacing everything all over again. Those kind of problems and other stupid and random **** is what I was talking about. And I also think in comparison to Honda's, parts on dsms break and weardown faster. And thats not necessarily bc of modding.

I just ccccccant ever let myself buy a GM or Ford. Evvvver lol. I fully plan on having fun modding a drag type car when I get out of college, its just too much money right now with me going back to school, but as soon as i'm done i'll be doing that. As for now, yeah your right, I just want something fun, that I will be happy with both the looks and performance of, and that I can rely on.:)

That is why I put 'suggested' speed limit rather than 'posted' speed limit. These are the speed limit signs that let you know when the suggested speed limit for a particular stretch of road is lower than that of the posted limit. I.E., when you are taking an off ramp where the suggested speed limit is 25 while the posted speed limit is 45.

You are correct. I never said that they couldnt screw you, I meant that you have a far less likelyhood of getting caught because you push your suspension rather than pushing your engine. If a cop wants to be a jerk, then s/he will find something to get you for. Trust me, I come from the 3rd Reich's hometown in Northern VA where they always find something to get you for.

if you can afford it, do it. i sold my eclipse a couple months ago and bought the corvette, and i love the difference. i didn't have time to always be working on it, even though i loved the car to death, it just needed more time then i had. i'll always be a dsm'er, and will probably pick one up just to **** with in a couple years, but i'll never have one as my daily, and i'll never put that much money into one again.
