it was steph in her black wrx wagon, barry in his white sti, and myself i my blue wrx sedan... charles was there and made an excellent pit crew and camera man... it was amazing time, i'll definitely be going again. everyone improved drastically throughout the day, and we were all putting up good times. we have a bit of video, which will be up as soon as i find someone to upload and edit it, and photos should be coming to you in the very near future.

my instructor is fastAr than your instructor!!

but really, the instructors driving both mine and barry's car pulled some of the fastest times out there for any street legal car, pretty cool...

here are some teaser pics... i'm gonna eat now and then i'm off to philly to see a show... only got 3 hours of sleep last night so cross your fingers that i make it through the night.

My car was worse with my power mods to be honest it made the car very twitchy it even caught out one of the instructors who drove my car.

TROLL 07-11-2005 01:55 AM

i dont agree... i think its all about using the power at the right time... you need to learn when to ease onto the gas and when to stomp on it... just cause you have 250+ whp doesnt mean you need to be using it all the time. fast isnt fast, smooth is fast ;).
for my own experiences... the entire course was in 2nd gear, and there were a couple turns that i was still trying to work on when the day ended, but i came out of a couple of them at about 2250 rpm which had me bogging horribly... it was painful, but i was advised by the instructors not to bother downshifting to 1st at all.
i am really pleased with my times though and i cant wait to go again. my car should handle a good deal better than a stock STi with the suspension work i've done, but i never really had a chance to test it out... i dont know if it was the car or the driver, but i think i won this battle :wiggle:
cant wait till everything is posted online so i can see where i fall in the group as a whole.

That looks like an awesome time. I can understand how Bryan could be stuck between the bottom of 2nd and the top of 1st. I never downshift my WRX into 1st gear. Looks like you guys had an outstanding time.

Bryan, did you change your bumper for the auo-x or did you go back to stock beforehand?

Yeah i really need to learn to roll onto the throttle instead of mashing it.

S4toSTI 07-11-2005 10:06 PM

I am not the only one who keeps numbers on my car

TROLL 07-11-2005 10:21 PM

i swapped the bumper back on on saturday, and it was intentionally done before the autox, but its a permanent change... my chargespeed bumper is up for sale in case you might know anyone interested.
i'm going to be rocking a stock bumper with a full oem kit all around... front, sides, rear. now the search for those side strakes begins.
bryan
p.s. next autox is july 30th but its the same day as the crab run!! drat!!
