Nah I don't think there is

Ender81 06-02-2009 11:04 PM

You sure maybe a cream or something? :-p

NickDHdfc 06-03-2009 07:00 AM

Haha maybe once your around it in real life...it looks pretty good

Ender81 06-03-2009 11:58 AM

Oh I've driven the 08 and the 09, we have guys that show up at the Applebees meets that own them. It's been a while and the WRX just doesn't do it for me. The STI I can deal with a bit more because at least it is still has the fender flares and somewhat aggressive look. I joke here but really it doesn't matter who likes it and who doesn't. I personally don't, but my mother is planning on buying one in a few months (not a dig, being serious).

NickDHdfc 06-03-2009 12:31 PM

yeah my favorite wrx is the 07, if i would of found one...i deffinitly would of got that over the 08

Ender81 06-03-2009 01:01 PM

I do dig the 07, one of the guys at the meet has one and I like it a lot.

First of all, there are some bizarre number quotes on their site. The stock 08 STi output isn't ANYWHERE NEAR the "288 whp and 331 ft. lbs" they claim. I watched a bone stock one roll off the dyno at Precision Tuning right before my Leggy went on . . . it put down a whopping 223whp on the dyno-jet. Also, a FP HTA GT35r blowing at 23 psi should be making way more than 380whp if properly tuned on 93 pump.
Secondly, I've heard some pretty bad stories about tunes done by verocious . . . I sincerely hope you've logged it since the tune and given the logs a good look over.

I thought someone had hacked my account and started this thread under my name. Then I looked at the date 2007. Wow time flies and I have a terrible memory.
Not a big fan of the new Sti in the. Looks department not saying I wouldn't take one but I like the wrx better just because I rather have the sedan.
Maybe Subaru will come back in 2010 with a 2 door model .

Tim probably got those numbers with my car a stage 2, before the work. The motor still has stock heads and cams with a TMIC. So yes once these are done it will produce better numbers. Besides as a DD its pretty nasty on the street as is. There has been some issues from verocious in the past, most of which was customers over reacting or brought their car to them after several other shops before going to VM. Andy and Dan know whats going on and are good at what they do. Great customer service as well.

Ender81 06-03-2009 02:49 PM

This won't be a thread about Verocious there are plenty of threads regarding the shop that we don't need to go into it here. As for the numbers if they came from your stage 2 car that means that you have an exhaust and a tune which is far from stock. I've heard that the new STIs put down better numbers then the previous sti due to the variable valve timing being on both the intake and exhaust side. Hook be sure to ask Ryan about it.

Yeah, my point was primarily that you should log your own car after a tune regardless of who made the map . . . interesting things may turn up. As for the 08 STi's vs the 04-06 on the dyno, on the dyno jet the stock 08's put down around 223whp, where as the 04-06's put down ~248whp. (all numbers from the same dyno) So idk about the vvt.

Ender81 06-03-2009 03:09 PM

Yeah like I said talk to Ryan the other day when we were checking out Dave's Evo Ryan mentioned that the new VVT is allowing the new STIs to hit 10s with some normal mods so I don't know what a stage 2 is capable of. However I agree the stock numbers are way off they should be more up front about what they consider to be "Stock"

I think the world of Ryan, but I haven't seen these 10 second 08's with minimal mods.

and honestly...fast doesn't cure ugly or cheap.

Wow when I get home this is so going in my signature lmao. But for the times yeah I am torn I haven't seen it myself but Ryan hasn't steered me wrong. Maybe shooting over to that site for the 08+ wrxs might be in order.

Lol, that quote is just full of win.

RyanG 06-04-2009 01:42 PM

ok time to clear the air a bit :P

The 08-09 STI's that I have seen running 10's have IMHO minor mods, big injectors, big turbos, meth.. Mind you very agressive tunes and an even more experienced driver...That to me isn't major but to some is so take it with a grain of salt. Even with the bolt ons like the above has should be good for low 11's BUT.... FACT IS the 08-09 STIs are FAST. really really fast. The above dyno sheet is obviously a conservative tune..... Andy must have been relaxed with his tuning on that one. That set up should be good for OVER 400whp, more like 430ish..

But every tuner has a reason, and maybe the TMIC just can't flow it or who knows... I've seen stock TMIC STI's hitting 400 so I dunno. Im guessing open source tune? if so that may be the reason.

captainhook 06-04-2009 02:20 PM

Haha, yeah, the term "minor mods" is definitely subjective :-p I was kinda thinking intake+exhaust+tune would be considered minor mods.
