Unless it's a load bearing mustang dyno:)

All this leads to much lower maximum #s on dyno pulls, but doesn't mean the car has the power.

Any turbo guy will attest to having to tune their electronic boost controller just for the dyno because it does put enough resistance on the wheels to fully load the engine to make the same boost. Mustang dynos are the exception and this is why the generally read lower HP. I always have to set my EBC to target about 5psi higher than normal on dynojets to get the same boost as what I get on the street.

From what I've seen, you can add up to about 50-100hp on top of what an auto dynos at to get the "true" whp depending on setup.

I mean its a 3800lb car doing 110 traps right??

about 3650 or so

the car has a stall- unlocked #'s. stock AUTO ls1's usually dyno more than my car did. it was locked (via hptuners that i use to adjust the shift tables) in 3rd gear for the pulls.

i didn't even get copies of the graphs, didn't care:lol:. sorry.

it is a dynojet, so it actually may have read HIGH

definetly just for compartive purposes- and maybe to get a couple races with cars that have more power than me:banana:

My animal of a car put down 298 WHP on a mustang dyno at PDT lol. Later I come to find out they were getting sparatic readings that day because of a faulty power supply and they offered me a free chance to come back and do it again.. I just don't want to deal with trying to get talked into buying something.. I guess that means I am making more power then you, let's race!! I'm seriously thinking of Atco today..

i won't be back at atco for a couple weeks. need to do some simple routine maintenance and put my driveshaft loop in first.

you already smoked me anyway:finga:

nicks car is a monster... Any reason that you would have dynoed lower then stock ls1's? other then the auto

Reguardless it takes alot to beat him, but I wouldn't say he is unbeatable...

12.1 on motor...maybe. NOS is sweet! The STi he ran is a 12.0-12.1 second car.
An auto def dynos ALOT lower (10-30%) than a MT. Alot more drive tran loss, and if you add a high stall TC, it will be ALITTe worse.

NO, unless the engine is "dying"/loosing compression.

dolphinS4 04-25-2006 01:29 PM

A car running 12.1 better have more than 275 whp.

I think its safe to say we are looking at the results from running in the wrong gear. I would guess the reading was from a redline run with a gear lower than 1:1.

Just a guess though. Eithier way, running a 12.1 is impressive to me.

SinistiR 04-25-2006 02:35 PM

My car(the STi) is putting down 392whp on pump gas, weighs 3500lbs and traps 117-8 on pump gas with a best 60ft this year of 1.89.

347gtvert 04-25-2006 03:10 PM

sleeper - do you shift out of 2nd gear by the end of the quarter w/ those 2.73's?

C'DALERIDER 04-25-2006 04:05 PM

you can go over to Xotic and compair dyno pulls with RIU???? They have a dynojet also. It be interesting to see if there is a difference. Thats pretty low. Sure you were not sandbagging the pull?

brk4sti 04-25-2006 06:25 PM

Why should a car that runs that make more power guess what it isn't a civic its set up to drag race plenty of guys run 11's with 300hp it just proves what me and nick say dyno numbers mean jack

my srt lost about 150whp when i put the auto in and still went 11.6

it's all about tq multiplication

wanna put your $ on it? i've ran that multiple times, but also ran a ton of 12.20's and 12.30's- althought it is usually pretty solid low 12.20's to 12.10's.

dyno'd in 3rd gear, 1:1 ratio.

347gtvert- i get about 20mph into 3rd gear in the 1/4 mile on a motor run- a good bit.

because i like revitup (nothing wrong with xotic im sure...) and i don't care about comparing. i think it is funny it dyno'd that low.

Actually, looking at your MPH and the weight of the car it's not that far off. You make up for the HP in the short track, and I went 12.2 on radials the day I raced you and we were pretty well matched on the street, so I believe it without question.

i understand what you are saying and agree- but short track? in my book that is the 1/8 mile.. (?)

stock ls1's DO dyno closer to 300 too:banana: , i read 1000 sigs on ls1tech with nice high dyno #'s and minimal modifications. guess mine is just a turd:mrgreen:

TurboTagTeam 04-26-2006 09:37 PM

Set-up is everything. People just don't understand. I bet if you ran wrinkle wall's you'd hit 10's easy.

ITSTOCK 04-26-2006 10:21 PM

Was it not already pointed out that you have a decent size stall?????? Stall convertors+dyno=inconsistant+(usually) low.

Let the track times speak for themselves! Your car runs!!!! Just out of curiosity, what was the tourque? Also, what's the STR on that convertor?

sleeperstyle 04-26-2006 10:58 PM

torque? what's that?
