I want to do some this year, but most likely I won't make it to any until next year.
Any suggestions for starter gear? What to look for, where to get it, awesome forums to do some reading on, etc?
13X is a great forum if you want to get serious.
Also, I got my gear from Ayden Lee Racing. They make custom suits and the prices are good. |
Get the best gear you can afford, and read reveiws from people who ride and have crashed, not those lame reveiws you see in the american sportbike mags.
Here's mine- I've crashed in el-cheapo KOBE leathers twice, across asphault and through gravel, and another across dry dirt, and they faired way better than the joe rocket leathers after one lowsideon asphault at low speed. My alpinestars GPtech gloves held up fantasitc, but are too mnagled to use on the track, and finally got replaced with a set of heroic racing gloves. My forst back protector was a dainese, but i didn't like the way it felt, it did its job fine, but i bought a knox contour, and the thing is much lighter and fits a ton better. Also did its job beautifully. Check out sportbiketrackgear.com for killer deal on gear, as well as http://www.motorcyclecloseouts.com. For a suit, i'd reccomend getting a used one off of 13x forums. |
Ill be out a lot. KM- hit me up id love to do a day with you---
Im definitely down for that! ^^^
I am currently bikeless, but I never go long without one... cars are killing my bank account :( |
lol i have a zx10 now but i dont think its going to be as fun as a 6 on the track--- we shall see...
I always keep my eyes peeled for bikes--- let me know what your lookin for |
How is the instructor course with TPM? Has anyone done it? I've been wanting to do a track since got my bike 3years ago. I grew up racing motocross and I got the zx6r and felt very comfortable instantly and want to push it further on the track.
Pretty good, they duck row you in the morning, teach you the lines of the track, follow you, tell you what you are doing right/wrong, and answer questions. ART L1&2 Are highly reccomended.
tonys track days are good for beginners they have limited passing rules and class time between sessions, i had a great time with them

First time out on lightning this year for me, tough to shake the cobwebs out of my head. I'll probally be going down to NJMP again May 26th or 27th, if anyone is interested, TPM is running there.
I have a Rev IT TT suit for sale. 350 for a 1200 suit. I already "tested it" and it works great in teh event of a crash.
Size=50 which means basically this: 180lbs and 6'1, 185lbs and 6'0 190 and 5'11 or 5'10 http://s1.visordown.com/uploads/imag...mage/31992.jpg One of the best suits on the market |
Getting out?

I feel you there man. Think of it as added traction control. You ride with tpm?

I'm heading down to lightning on saturday the 26th.
Kinda forgot about this thread, but the hell. 15 t/d's this year, and i wait till the end of the season to remember it.
Might be heading down to njmp next w/e with nesba at lightning, and then the following weekend with tpm. Lemme know if anyone else is heading down, plenty of pit space. |
