Ok, looking for some advice. I'm interested in a Kriss Vector but i don't like the pistol or carbine....so SBR it is.

I understand that this makes it a Class 3 weapon, needs to be registered, $200 tax stamp, ridiculous waiting time, bought through a class 3 dealer. What is the best way to go about this? Do i find the weapon first and then contact them? visa versa? Just order it through the class 3 dealer and do all the appropriate paperwork then play the waiting game? Also, wheres the closest class 3 dealer to Reading PA??

I was between this and a Savage Arms 110BA in .338LM, chose the vector for the overall cost (I.E. doesnt need a $2-4k scope), and cost to shoot along with the ease to find a place to shoot.

Any help from you knowledgeable individuals would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

Good day yesterday, bought two mint Marlin lever actions, one in 30-30 and the other in 35 Remington. Dated both of them one from 63 and the other was from 51. Ended up getting a pretty nice Winchester single shot semi auto as well, model 55. Its a odd rifle firing from the open bolt position. Only made for 3 years from the research I have done so far.

Read a story about a girl that accidentally killed her instructor with an UZI. She was 9, instructor standing at her 8:00, gun recoiled up and out of her hands to 8:00. Video cut off before he was hit. Pretty sad and IMO irresponsible to give a 9 year old a gun like that. I can see letting her shoot 3 or 5 rounds full auto but that's nuts.

If you watch the video she looses the gun after the second round going down range in f/a and never lets go of the trigger. A standard Uzi is heavy and rate of fire isn't that bad. They gave her a mini Uzi which is light and has a higher rate of fire. Wouldn't be the first full auto gun I would give someone to shoot for the first time. But I hate to say it I blame the instructor on this one. He should of never been standing there plus he only let her fire one round in semi before switching it to full. And another thing he wasn't even holding the gun, he had his hand on the bottom of the magazine which would of done nothing if the gun walked.

SBRs are Class 3 and do need to be purchased threw a class 3 dealer. If you buy from a private seller than you only need to do the transfer threw the class 3 dealer and the appropriate background checks. Im pretty sure the SBR paperwork would be submitted my yourself(alteast that is how it is with the SBR paperwork with the ARs i am building). If you are buying new then all of the paperwork would be done by the dealer. I would contact the dealer 1st. No matter what it is going to take awhile. The paperwork cannot be submitted until the "item" is in the dealer's possession and you can only take possession of it after the tax stamp comes back.

You have 2 options for getting the tax stamp. Just the stamp or set up a gun trust. I prefer the gun trust route. It is more expensive because you have to pay for the trust AND the tax stamp, but it allows you to skip tax stamp steps that involve the head LEO of your county(incase they have a stick up their bum and believe that civilians should not own harmless Class 3 items). And the trust is also the legal controlling "entity" of the items so in the case that something happens to you the items go to the beneficiary of the trust and not the government.

As for Class 3 dealer recommendations. I dont know of any down in Reading, but Advanced Arms in Pittston, PA is my dealer of choice. Amazing customer service, hard to beat prices, and very friendly staff.

99corvette 09-12-2014 03:52 PM

In state private deals do not need to go through a dealer(unless its a dealer selling), you would be wasting time plus money if you go that route. Out of state deal would need to go to a dealer instate then transfer to you. Making sbr can be done by yourself just submit your form 1, easier if you have a LLC or trust so you don't have to do finger prints or pictures. Nice thing about a trust or LLC is any legal law abiding citizen that can own a firearm under the trust or LLC can take the item out to the range unlike if it was just registered to one person.

Hey folks, Any of you folks that have an M&P40 Compact and looking for a nice holster, i've got 2 for sale. One is a Blackhawk! OWB serpa holster. lightly used and near new quality. Listing is here.. https://post.craigslist.org/manage/4716639363/2w3ft

Also have a Galco (i believe) OWB snap holster, also for sale.

Also have 1 box of Tulammo .40S&W that are unused, plus 2 boxes of unused Remington .40 S&W (all is 180 grain). Since my duty weapon is a .45, I sold my M&P for a 45, so I simply don't need this stuff anymore.

Also have about 5-6 P-mags (some windowed, others not) up for grabs. Shoot me a PM.

Took the 700 out a few weeks ago, only difference from last year to this one is I added a timney trigger. Range I was shooting at is out to 600 yards. Made sure it was still on at 100 yards with some hunting ammo suppressor mounted then hit some steel at 200 yards. Gonna buy some match ammo and see how far out I can reach.

What are your opinions of the trigger so far? What scope are you using?

cmr076 11-26-2014 05:37 PM

^ It looks to be a Trijicon Accupoint.

99corvette 11-26-2014 06:17 PM

Love the trigger, wish I bought it when I bought the rifle. It is a trijicon accupoint tr20. Standard cross hairs with a green dot. Thing is so clear and the green dot really pops. My rifle had the recall on the trigger that's why I decided to upgrade.

300zx_tt 12-02-2014 02:30 AM

Where can you stretch to 600yrds? Private land?

99corvette 12-02-2014 09:45 AM

New Holland gun club. Not sure if they are taking new members or not.

300zx_tt 12-04-2014 12:08 AM

They aren't but I'll check back in February. 600 yards is awesome, and hard to find. Thanks!

What does everyone CC? I don't carry very much right now, mainly because I only have a full size and even though I'm a bigger guy its still kind of a pain. Was thinking of picking up a S&W shield 40. Can anyone recommend something better taking into account the fact that its pretty inexpensive? I'd like to stay in the 40 since that's what my full size is an I'd prefer to not have to buy multiple calibers of ammo.

HaveBlue83 12-22-2014 11:26 PM

i CC a G26, went from a G23. I like it

I painted the SPR/RECCE AR this weekend. I am awaiting my suppressor back from HTA for an endcap repair. stupid effing Voodoo barrels are NOT threaded concentric to bore! stupid stupid.

Tinkles 12-23-2014 08:05 AM

I CC a S&W 40 Shield and love it. I am currently using an Alien Gear IWB holster and most of the time I can barely feel it on my side. Personally I dont think the recoil is bad on it and I highly recommend it.

99corvette 12-23-2014 08:35 AM

I cc a glock 23 with night sights and a lasermax internal laser. Its the only gun I have ever cc, I'm a smaller guy so sometimes it can be a pain to carry depending on what I'm wearing. Looking for a smaller frame gun in the future like a s&w hammerless 38/357.

HatchSurfer3 12-23-2014 09:54 AM

Thanks guys. I'll check out the Glocks as well. I feel like for the money the shield is hard to beat. Recoil isn't a huge concern. I expect a bit since its a 40 but my other s&w 40 doesn't bother me at all.

I carry the 9mm shield, my buddy has a .40 shield and the recoil def is noticeable. Makes double tapping nearly impossible..

Most days its a Glock 19 with a TLR attached. I have a shield in 9mm and carry that when i want to go light, or i'm just running to the gym, etc.

While i'm not a fan of the .40, i'd say carry and shoot whatever you're comfortable with. I find most of the smaller .40 cal guns to be more difficult to shoot than their 9mm counterpart. I carried a Glock 22 and 27 a lot for a while, and while i shot the 27 just fine, i shot the 26 better. I've sold off all my .40 guns and went to 9 and 45.

I'd find a range that rents guns and shoot a bunch.

cmr076 12-31-2014 11:29 AM

I CC a full size 1911 most of the time.. I'm tall and skinny (6' 165lb) and the slim frame carries better on me than even my glock 19, which I also carry.

2g Talon 01-03-2015 11:54 AM

Full framed glock 21 .45.

akley88 01-03-2015 10:00 PM

Steyr S40-A1 is my everyday carry

auk113 01-03-2015 11:07 PM

CC a sig P230 during hot days and HK P30 when hoodie weather comes around :)

CleanNeon98 01-04-2015 11:32 AM

Mine are a G19 and G26. I typically carry the 19 in my OWB holster and my 26 in my IWB holster. Not really a huge difference in the two, and although I kind of want to sell one, the 19 was my first gun, and I feel I'd miss the 26 as soon as I sold it. It's just so damn cute!

akley88 01-05-2015 05:19 PM

ive been thinking about picking up a xd-s or glock 30sf but i cant decide between the two.
