You should get a better holster regardless. Those holsters are a joke as far as retention go. But an even better solution is to obtain some retention training as well. You'd be amazed at what you will learn there. You could walk around with the gun just Velcro'ed to your side and no1 would be able to take it from you. (ok not really but you get the point)

I for one would be highly pissed if I went all the way up there and was told to leave after getting there...and I'm an advocate for OCing. But sometimes you just need to know the time and place which is what I think Dave is trying to convey. Cause I know there are a lot of people on PAFOA that will OC just to OC and prove a point that they can do it whether you like it or not. They will cut off their nose to spite their face if you know what I mean. That's all fine and dandy...but I'd rather not go there and have to deal with the police. With the amount of anti-gun people on here...I think if we band together and show up there...issues will be quick to follow. It's sad...but unfortunately true.

I was thinking the same thing, but last year a few people OC'd and it wasn't a problem. If people decide to make an issue of it this year though, I'll make sure to have my IWB as a backup.

the only problem with that is IF you decide to OC and an issue arises and you are asked to leave, its not like you can say "oh hai officer ill unholster and handle my cocked and locked gun here in public put it down switch holsters, handle it again and reholster covering up this time"... I have a feeling things would go VERY differently haha. the only OC holster I have is for my S&W 65 and that thing has so much freaking work done (as well as a trigger that is so light it could be pulled by basically flicking it) i wouldnt want to carry it.

^^^This

If an issue would arise and you're asked to leave you can damn well rest assured the second you step back on the property they are going to ask to search you and there is a pretty good chance (IANAL so don't quote me on this) that you will have to comply. And should you have a firearm concealed (even if you are licensed to do so) at that point you are still trespassing and will be handled as such.

The only reason I even brought it up was because we're talking about it right here on the forum which is sponsoring the event and it's not like someone won't see it if they want to make a stink about it.

Well, we'll see how it goes I guess. Most likely I will end up CC'ing, but I still would like the option to open carry.

In all honestly, the main reason I would CC at Sonic is not so much the fear of harassment, but rather the fact that I haven't really met anybody off of this site yet and I don't want people's first impression of me to be that I'm a gun-toting wacko..

Munky 03-10-2011 02:58 PM

Wait a minute...you're not a gun toting wacko?!?! And here I thought you were one of us!!! I don't wanna meet you now!!!
