I got out of highschool in 05' and was making $11 an hour with full benefits, a weeks vacation, and a ton of perks.

Granted I was a temp because I got offered the job for being the top in my tech class before hand and went there on coop while still in school... You just gotta apply yourself. I was the youngest person in one of the largest OEM Aftermarket car parts businesses. Then I ****ed up and lost it all. If I was still there I'd probably be making at least 35-40k a year lol

ugh fml.

So who wants to Dutch rudder me with me?

Erik 06-23-2009 01:51 PM

sounds hot, was is that lolol

russiankid 06-23-2009 01:54 PM

You don't know what the dutch rudder is? Ok its where you grab yo dick, I grab mine, you work my arm, I work your arm. Its not gay because we're grabbing our own dicks.

Haha what a good movie.

no job is too low. I hate not working.

I've got an awesome job now and making awesome money. the only way i'll be leaving this place is once i get my own thing started, which i intend on having self sufficient by the time i'm 30. Starting to do more of my own side projects to get my personal portfolio up so i can start bringing in paying gigs.

Elliott18t 06-23-2009 01:56 PM

i went from coffee shop to crappy retail.. to retail bank (commerce bank.. thats what they considered themselves).. and now i work at a pharmaceutical company.. like the rest of my family lol. hopefully if i stay here long enough they will put me on salary or at least pay me more.. will be a full time temp for a full year in august(through them not another company).

Erik 06-23-2009 02:01 PM

i guess i also dont really know how to apply to some of the jobs i want. like i said, i just want something thats like data entry or something along the lines of that. idk how to go about applying for those. From what i understand, its not professional to walk in and ask for a job, and im sure they dont always post their opening on craigslist/snagajob/careerbuilder/ect

i was a commercial electrician for 4 years. economy took a crap and i got laid off.

since high school i was a cook, valet attendant, bike mechanic/ saes guy, sold meat (what a joke of a job), and electrician.

Elliott18t 06-23-2009 02:04 PM

friend just recently got low enough hours as an electrician that he gets unemployment.

Erik 06-23-2009 02:04 PM

i was contemplating moving to NJ and getting into their union as an electrician. my bro works on the nuclear plants and has been hanging LEDs from the casinos that are going up like crazy. he makes 6 figures.

sounds like a good deal.

i think in the next ten years, electricians will be needed like crazy for the erection of solar panels and wind turbines.

then i'll be set lol. i'd LOVE to work on a wind turbine

Elliott18t 06-23-2009 02:08 PM

sad thing about his job is its rate pay.. so its not always the same.. for a while it could be amazing.. then next thing you know its ****. damn skilled trades lol.

Erik 06-23-2009 02:09 PM

ha yea, my issue is heights....kinda butt ****s that idea. i love working with wires and relays and ****. Id like to do auto install, but from my understanding you need all your own tools and my tool collection isnt enough yet.

company meetings about the death of a coworker are pretty awkward...

One of mine did too last year :( Nobody could really figure it out. No outward signs really.

Scapegoat 06-23-2009 02:13 PM

its also really awkward when he comes up as the featured employee on the intranet... and that function is 100% random

RSX Type-Slow 06-23-2009 02:14 PM

Heheh.. erection

DPancoast 06-23-2009 02:18 PM

Lol good catch Sam

man I dunno what I would do if someone from my work did that. Then again it's a small (about 15 people) company and we're all pretty close but still.

sheesh

Scapegoat 06-23-2009 02:24 PM

i've had a decent amount of beers with the kid during happy hours. i'm not entirely sure how to feel though.

Elliott18t 06-23-2009 02:29 PM

i think talking with them/having beers every so often is enough to feel at least awkward.
