the g8 is pretty nasty.

It'll never be as good as the abroad version, and this comes from personal experience. It'll be neutered, and anyone that doesn't believe that doesn't know GM and how they do things. The suspension will be softer, the bumpers will be Pontiac (ehhhh), and we'll never get their top HSV GTS/Vauxhall VXR8 version.

But it'll be a good car nonetheless; 6 speed tremec coming after launch (prolly second quarter next year).

Isn't that why they have the gt? you mentioned the suspension being softer and there are obviously other things like power and lsd..blah..blah...bla. In the Gt version they are supposed to upgrade most of those parts right? Are you saying that even after they do that it still won't be as good as the abroad cousin?

No, the suspension in the HSV GTS uses magnetic waves to soften or harden it..we'll never see that. The GTO had a softer suspension due to the "roads" and "driver feel" of America; basically, we want a smoother ride, so they put in softer equipment. The G8 will follow suit, and you can quote me on that.

The GT will be getting 370hp I believe..even if it's not that, it's not the 4xx that the GTS gets (I think 405-10ish off the top of my head), and the rumored uber-Commodore with the LS7...if that happens, we'll never see it, b/c that will cannibalize stuff left and right (like a CTS V).

But really I need to look into them more. I'm actually interested in the g8 as a potential first NEW car. Otherwise i'll just wait for maybe the challenger or something else that catches my eye.

Ferrari's have it..and I know a few others, but the development of the HSV version is fairly advanced.
