unsubstantiated rumors has it that my boss quit on friday. which sucks ass.

however, it leaves his position open... and me being, i believe, the only person capable of taking it over. This is both good and bad

good luck w/ possible new job.

Why is it bad if he quit?

grimm 06-01-2009 11:18 AM

could be one of those positions thats a lose lose situation.

my allergies are kickin my @ss right now!!

DPancoast 06-01-2009 11:56 AM

Good luck Ken. Hope everything stays straight for you

Scapegoat 06-01-2009 12:07 PM

i like my boss, which is one of the reasons that it sucks that he quit.

If i move into the position, which i'm guessing is 50/50 right now if he did quit... i probably won't see a pay raise, will be expected to work late/early and on the weekends. Not only that, i'd see a lot of my time taken away from actually programming and put into meetings and management.

I'm hoping he didn't quit. but if he did, i wouldn't mind the position.

Snoozie 06-01-2009 02:13 PM

This weekend kicked my ass...and I hardly did anything! :o

grimm 06-01-2009 02:19 PM

i hate allergies

Scapegoat 06-01-2009 02:27 PM

yup, pretty much confirmed that my immediate lead has quit.

should be an interesting day. I'm pretty sure i'll be passed on for his position, but i'm uncertain as to whom else would qualify for the position... based solely on time here and knowledge of our proprietary stuff. Everyone in my specific group is "new" i think the other guy has been here for a year, with me closing in on two and i'm still teaching him new things.

interesting day indeed

Well keep us posted and good luck.

Yeah Ken congrats I suppose. Maybe things will be better than you expect!

Is it time to go home yet?

Scapegoat 06-01-2009 03:13 PM

lol, don't congratulate me yet. i'm just speculating what will happen. for all i know i could be way off base. but i did speak with my buddy here and he agrees that i'm the logical decision out of everyone else in the department.

we've got separate groups, each with a lead (mine quit). those groups really can't lose a member in order to take a lead position with my group.

out of my group, there are only two people even remotely qualified to take that position. myself being one. and i firmly believe, and know, i am better qualified than the other. Due mainly to my knowledge of our processes and sites being better due to the greater length of time i've been employed.

of course, i'm speaking logical... we all know logical decisions are not usually made by management :)

You're one luck son of a bitch!!! SUPER itchy eyes and throat...ridiculously stuffy nose and sinuses...headaches and I literally sneeze at least 10 times in a row through out the day! Ugh! I hate it something fierce!

blkZ06 06-01-2009 04:03 PM

well damn

grimm 06-01-2009 04:11 PM

yea i sneeze soo many times in a row i feel like i'm going to die from not getting any air. my nose wants to drain all day long. literally if i don't blow my nose or have a tissue it will just run out of my nose like a dripping faucet. my allergies kick my ass...

agoodall 06-01-2009 04:13 PM

I get the stuffy nose with extremely annoying runny-ness and on a good day maybe just sneezing in the morning...pollen allergies=FML

I have taken every drug imaginable and my tolerance is through the roof so i usually have to tough it out or take benadryl and be sleepy all day
