HaveBlue83 02-01-2010 10:16 PM

yes, DSM = soft metal. get a full cage. please.

only thing that saved my ass was how i sat in the car....seat leaned back.

I eventually sell them. Mostly the main reason I get them is because I constantly need something to work on. I do not mean grab a wrench and turn a bolt, I mean build a car from the ground up. As soon as ones done, I NEED another one. I guess like an addiction? I DO sell alot of them though. When I finish them , I drive them for a bit and then eventually sell them being I do not need a ton of cars at once aha.

I have about 7-8 2g turbo cars at my garage as of right now though again. I have yet another 2g GSX coming tomorrow nite now too.

It's not quick and easy like you would think or everyone would be doing it though. I deal with a TON of 16 year old teenagers and their parents who I try not to even deal with because of all the b/s, And nit-picking about these older cars. VERY VERY frustrating to be totally honest with you. If you do not have a ton of time, patience, resources and knowledge, Then I guess it would not be worthwhile. You obviously need to have some type of money to start aswell. This way if you see a car listed for 5,000$ or 3 or so (example), for 10k, ETC ETC, You can quick go buy them and then just let them sit. I've spent thousands up front on these cars already just to have them sit for a very long time until I had time to work on them, Because I'd rather buy them before anyone else has a chance to buy them. I work 9 or more hrs a day at the garage every day, And it don't seem like it's enough time in the day. My phone is CONSTANTLY going off all different hours of the day and nite, and all weekend long which is really frustrating. Having people constantly dropping off their cars to be worked on and other people coming and going daily to buy stuff and look at stuff takes alot of energy out of you too even if you don't think it would, Especially being I do it all ALONE.

Luckly I have TONS of parts for these cars so I can easily buy a bare body even, And then I have everything to put it together from there. I think I still have enough parts to put 4 entire bare body cars together to running condition now including every nut/bolt/part of the car.

Either way, I've been working on them for the past 10 years and just recently got really really bad with buying them (where I NEED to have at least 4 or 5 a month or I get antzy and don't know what to do because I feel like i'll never have enough of them).

People ask me every day how I can just keep buying the same car. I've had a very very fast srt4 I built about 2 years ago and wasted 40k on that and only sold it for 10k, And bought the 06' sti stock last april for 36k and put 34k cash into it building it from the ground up, Only to make 20k of that back (50k loss or so?) So the difference is, DSM's can be had for only a ''few thousand dollars'' each, Opposed to 20k+ for each car, you know? I will never buy and build another newer car again, being all of the money I have WASTED on cars for myself, That were ''new''.

Sorry for rambling on, I'm sure the post makes no sense !

Now when ever I will be ready to buy a 2g i know who to go to. lol

EklipzGSXkid 02-01-2010 11:28 PM

That convert is VERY nice! Always see your pictures and video's of it.

That rolled car is SCARY. Lucky for you, You were ok. Weird how the spoiler looks like it did not even get a scratch on it.

HaveBlue83 02-01-2010 11:46 PM

^^well, the guy in the tow truck made SURE to crack a tail light, rash the bumper, AND damage the wing when they drug it up against the barrier trying to flip it over. it was about 4 inches away when it came to a stop after it flipped. only good pats on the car and they managed to wreck them. i mean, they had to get it over, just sucked they had to damage more stuff.

i was going around a semi (boostin, cut across the center lane to the left lane, TOTALLY my fault), didn't see the lane of traffic slowing down rapidly on the "open lane" i was entering. the semi was blocking my view of that until i was committed to the left lane.

I tried to slow down, the brakes locked up. I left off and tried to squeeze between the semi's trailer and the Grand Am i was about to rear-end. I ended up sideswiping the grand am and our tires hit, vaulting me into the air. Freak thing. My car came down on the roof, and stayed there. I got a light concussion and a bruised left had and some road rash on a knuckle......and burnt arm hair from the A-pillar's sparks flying into the car from the roadway. I SAW I-95 in the drivers side widow area upside down at 55mph. i could see the grooves in the road. i was concious the whole time. I had to kick the pass side door open to get out.

i f-ed up royally basically.

Well, I'm glad you're still with us, brotha. You can always replace the car; you can never replace the person. I sincerely hope you use your second chance wisely.

EklipzGSXkid 02-02-2010 12:00 AM

Not sure how long ago it happen, But are you able to buy it back from the insurance? I would buy it off you for the transmission ETC if the answer is yes..

HaveBlue83 02-02-2010 12:03 AM

it was my "beater car" turned holy **** this is fun car so i didn't respect it as much as i needed to. I have since stopped doing the "thread the needle" bob and weave through traffic **** that I was doing on the highways. it caught up to me in a bad way that time. i found out how crappy the stock brakes are on 2g's. I was used to my SVTF's brakes, and they are GOOD.

I am trying to enjoy my current boost without abusing it. that car taught me if i misuse it that **** will bite back.

speed is my vice, and though it will always be in me, I have to use it in short spurts rather that just be retarded all the damn time.

What's up with that 2GB Talon? If you're planning on swapping it to an Eclipse or parting it, I may be interested in a few things....

A few of my ongoing affair:

actually, it's sitting behind my parents garage. i owned it outright. i have the full 3" megan racing X-haust, a FMIC/BOV, the engine and tranny for it. 208K on the ODO though. LOL. it had 175 compression last time i checked and the head was recently redone right before i bought it. the hood came down and smashed the front cam gear, BUT the engine was stalled and the timing belt is sitting on the gears, meaning the valves should be fine. I was gonna pull the engine when it got warmer, check it out and learn about these engines some. maybe buy a FWD shell and throw what I have into it and start again.

i wanna keep what I have as i hope to one day return to the DSM family :)

i should actually look u up and find a shell!! lol. all i find are $300 and NO titile....grr...
