ask if you can do it on contract for a short period of time. you remain self employed but you can go out there during the winter for a couple months when things slow down here

Like I said, I have to figure out the details. As of now, my dad has a place out there for work so I wont be stranded, just a little more driving initially.

That's the ****ing truth. I dont want to pick up and leave, I have way too much here, but if its better for me that's really all that matters. It just would conviently come at a time that I finally find a girl worth keeping and have the friends I have here. All this while my family seems to fall apart and then back together and I have quite a few career paths to chose. Its just too much too soon.

I feel the same way about leaving here to move to the Dominican Republic.

if i was you, in your situation... i would go. even if you spend a year or two out there... whats the worst that happens? you come back at 23 years old and still have your entire life in front of you PLUS an amazing experience.

keep it cool man, and if you have to, sit down and write down your options and talk with the girl, see what she has to say. its your life, and i'd go out there too. you'll have that much more in your ranks when you get back and it'll lead to more business. then you could get a shop and hire people and next thing you know you're more baller than ever lol

The girl is incredinly cool about this, shes all for it, she wants me to stay but she sees the opportunity I have. I can tell shed rather me stay but shes been pretty good at considering all the variables.

i'm dying for a change like yours Nick (and possibly Jim). unfortunately, i only have one skill and its not something i want to take with me on such a huge change.

i'm thinking of looking into night classes for cooking... i love cooking, i love food and i love cooking for people. if i could do it all over i'd have gone into school for culinary arts. BUT, i'm 26 so it isn't too late. I know i won't retire a programmer... hell, i'll be lucky to make it another 4-5 years. I'm def thinking night classes would be awesome... if i had enough projects running on the side i'd do those at night and hit school during the day.

I am up for a Tuesday night dinner. As long as nothing happens to my family tuesday i am in. Last time we tried to get together i spent the next 3 days in the hosptial with my poppa. Dont want to repeat that again.
