I can talk to my neighbor. He has a light blue supra like yours and he put the motor in himself, but I think it was the regular motor. He's a much older guy, but I'm sure he could help and would love to work on your car :D

massone 12-04-2008 05:14 PM

JerseyTuscani 12-04-2008 05:17 PM

Vinny 12-04-2008 05:20 PM

Pacman ftw! but it's gonna take alot of stamina to wear down Oscar.
I'll cheer for Pac but I see oscar taking it. :X

Normally fuel injected cars get confused when you pump the gas while starting them, have you tried just laying on the starter to see if it fires? If it doesn't it would lead me to believe that whatever bypasses your throttle body to let air in at idle (on my Cobra it's called an Idle Air Control) is sticking shut from the cold and not letting any air in.

someone is selling an '89 shell for $800 but told me it was negotiable and i'm thinking of buying it, putting my motor in, and getting it repainted to match (door and fender are white and the rest of the car is light blue)

I'll help

For Coffee

And I'm Gonna be buying some tools to swap my motor so I think I should have an engine lift and stuff

red24O 12-04-2008 08:27 PM

the guy is still tryin to sell it but I know he wants the s2 lol I kinda feel like I want another kouki font tho but who knows either way my next 240 will be crazy at least I hope lol

blackvr4 12-04-2008 08:28 PM

james the body work on your car is going to be much easier to do than swapping out ur entire motor/wiring harness/ecu/fmic/piping into another shell, and the rest of the bells and whistles that come with a 1J swap, just a tought.

Swapping the shell will be much cheaper than doing the body work. Odds are that if James buys the shell for 800 he can sell all of the duplicate parts that he'll have from the extra shell and make some money back. I'm thinking he can get at least 300 in parts out of the two cars and the swap will be one to one. So in all it should only cost a few hundred dollars which is less than a new front fender and all of the rear body work.

Was there an Infinity sedan parked behind it at that point or no? Didn't think you would be around this neck of the woods.

i was thinking of that too...

like i said in the last post, i was thinking of doing stuff in the summer...i'll have a better job, etc.

since i have all the parts i can have them do just the welding and painting...i have the fender, tail lights, and tail light gaskets in my garage, a set of mouldings on the way, and if the kid can find the piece he lost i have an 89+ 3-piece spoiler (not final, i won't pay him until he finds it)...only thing they'd need is the quarter panel, and i could even borrow an electric saw and cut a quarter panel off a junk yard car

are you kidding me dude? i had damage that was FAR worse than james's on my vr-4 shops wanted like 3000 dollars to fix it, i fixed that **** myself for like 200 dollars and another 150 for paint. if i had james's car it i could fix it for under 300 dollars without paint. my friend marc fixed his Z himself for like 1000 dollars himself including getting his whole car painted body work dont cost that much if u do it yourself.

lol ok.... just trying to throw options our there. Btw, you also have to look at how messed the tail light housing is- If that's not fixed right it'll be easy to notice and because it's a sqaure hole it'll be difficult to perfectly straighten. And James' car isn't the most rust free of vehicles either, which is just more food for thought.

sean3 12-04-2008 09:37 PM

i cant comment on the rust but i can comment on the fact that finding any 20+ year old car without rust in shell form is going to be hard as is., but i feel like its much easier to fix something little by little then buy a bare shell and start swapping **** over into it, hes gonna get overwhelmed when he sees a stripped shell, and have to redo all the wiring and what not. its gonna be way more headache then it will be worth. its really overwhelming putting a car together practically from the ground up, I have yet to put a together a complete shell from stripped to together, and ive pulled and rebuilt a ton of engines now on mitsubishis, GFs talon twice, bros Vr-4 twice, my talon 3times, my white Vr-4, when you have very little wrenching experience, no offense james, but i can tell you this, the only person you can rely on to be there 100% of the time while you put it together is yourself, people might be able to help you here and there buts it will be tuff to swap everything into another shell, especially when you have wrenched on your car so little as is and need so many tools required with building up another shell from the ground. with body work you need like some basic hand held tools.

look at your bro for example, how much money did it run him to fix the Mr2 couldnt have been that much and it looks pretty damn good from when ive seen it.

ASIAN JUL 12-04-2008 09:42 PM
