I'm surprised your computer didn't go nuclear for having NJ and gun in the same post

haha I was thinking the same thing... kinda like when I can go weeks without having a computer issue and when my brother and I are bored we both sit in separate rooms and visit a few choice websites at the same time. All of a sudden, within seconds both of us get a "Firefox/IE has encountered a problem and must be restarted" message and then our house goes internet-dead for 30 minutes or so. :rotfl: We're already on so many different lists it's not even funny.

Nice TCP, Let us know how you liked it. I picked the LCP over it because of the QC issues I keep reading about. Love to hear a first hand experience on how the gun works

92awdtsi 12-27-2010 06:01 PM

I bought 3 boxes of 95gr fmj's along with it, I'm going to the range later on tonight so I'll put up some pictures and how I like it. I'm not expecting perfection since it's brand new. I ended up choosing this one because I got a decent deal on it, and I also like the fact that when your out of bullets the slide locks open. (which is rare for a pocket .380)

92awdtsi 12-27-2010 09:40 PM

well i shot 150 95gr rds through it. Had several duds, might have a light hammer strike or just cheap ammo. not sure... other than that i had a whole crap load of failure to feeds, i think i may have put the pin in crooked upon disassembly which may have made the barrel get cocked up more than it should though.

edit: i just read on another forum that the TCP's serial # 60000 and under had magazine issues... mine is 59xxx so perhaps a newer magazine will solve the issues

Man that sucks. This is why I ended up buying the LCP, besides the fact the slide don't like back I love the gun. I've never had any failure to feeds or fire in over 100 rounds so far.

i've been playing with it while watching tv, loaded the mag full and cycling the slide by hand and it seems to be feeding and ejecting fine now (well getting better). I don't think i'm limp wristing it... that would cause a FTE not feed correct?

Limp-wristing can cause all types of malfunctions, but yes, FTE is the most common.

When you are getting FTFs, is it a true FTF? (as in, the fired case is ejected properly but the slide closes on an empty chamber instead of stripping the next round out of the mag) Or is it chambering a round but not fully returning the slide to battery? What brand of ammo is it?

This is disappointing news. I have yet to hear a single person who was actually satisfied by a taurus purchase.

I, for one, would never trust my life to a firearm that had that many problems, magazine issues, limp-wristing, still-breaking in or not.

My LCP has had well over 500 rounds through it without a single malfunction. Not even during the break-in period.

This many malfunctions from a handgun that is specifically designed for up-close-and-personal, worst-case-scenario, life-threatening self defense use is just plain unacceptable.

If you want my personal advice, I'd send it back to taurus as defective, make them fix it, sell it, and buy something without a taurus logo on it to replace it. I'd recommend a P3AT, LCP or Sig P238.

it was blazer .380 fmj's (cheap)

the FTF im describing is this.... i shoot the round, the case ejects fine, the next round goes halfway in and the slide gets stuck on it and sticks half open. Most of the time i could just give the back of the slide a slight tap and it would chamber the round and be ok, but for a brand new gun. this should not happen

edit: I also brought my g17 to the range and shooting this taurus has made me appreciate my glock so much more... 3000+ rds through it since i've owned it and not a single hiccup.
