nah, i need a mac os to test on... my window's vista machine is quite boss ;)

$1500, home built. two 19" monitors (included in price), 8gigs of sexy ram, quad core AMD processor. big huge computer box w/ big ass fans keeping everything cool. velociraptor HD for the OS and programs and a 500gb hd for other crap. thing starts up in under a minute.

though, i want to upgrade the MoBo to one that can handle 16gigs of ram in case i want to upgrade that. It really is more computer than i need... but I'm able to play music through it on the 360 and play online games w/ the video stuff turned up to max.

I want to build another machine w/ the version of ubuntu that is for entertainment centers and attach it to my tv and sound system, install a blu-ray player/burner and get that **** going.

And then you dont get ****ty preloaded crap..

Ubuntu is nice, but I think installing stuff on linux becomes a PITA.. well when you have to type all those commands in. I know its not all like that though.

i've only owned two computers... my first one lasted me 5-6 years, upgraded the ram and video card... and now this one. I won't need another computer for another 5+ years. and I can always upgrade components to extend that time frame.

hmm... i need an air cannister, this box is a dust trap with the huge side fans

Oakes 03-31-2009 10:25 AM

you're a dust trap

ubuntu makes it easier... but i agree. there is a lot of trouble shooting sometimes when installing stuff. sometimes you've got to edit a file to include some kind of package name or whatever...

this is what i want to install on a new computer: http://www.mythbuntu.org/

probably looking at another grand in components... maybe more with the blu-ray player/burner and probably a 1tb HD

dude thanks, those prices are so much easier to swallow... the $599 model is pretty slick hardware wise http://store.psystar.com/open3-osx.html

won't need anything major, but compared to the mac mini through Apple... this thing is pretty swell

you can get a mac mini for like $499.

I love my mac <3

where'smyturbo? 03-31-2009 10:39 AM

My computer used to be an emachine, til mike and I pretty much tore it apart and built a computer (this one). Only thing left from the emachine is the hard drive.

Forgot how much I love to build them... I need a laptop though. going to try to sell this thing soon.
