That's why he's always in a bad mood, because his panties are riding up his ass crack.

Haha yes we are all friends, but you also have to come in here, not really take anything seriously, and shoot it right back.

I would say a week or two.

I'm already bored out of my skull. I'd rather be getting ready for work.

jpalamar 11-03-2009 03:55 PM

The strike is a joke. Most unions should be shut down. It used to be about keeping this fair, but not it is about greed. How much do you think you should get paid to drive a bus? Honestly... and bitching that you want a cost of living raise when most companies are on a hiring freeze. Hell, I took a pay cut before I lost my job. Ungratefull bitches.

One of my co-workers brother is a bus driver. She told me that one of the main reasons that the strike is happening because Septa did not pass along money to the workers that was intended for salary? Is the info close to true?

Not quite. It's close. SEPTA got 400bil in taxpayer dollars already, and do not want to use it except to fatten upper management pockets. Whatever they don't give the blues, the whites keep as a bonus.

There are FAR more issues than that though.

*edit*
That means that SEPTA already HAS your money. You already PAID for the workers and everything, but SEPTA won't give it out. And you're bitching that the union is greedy because the media is SEPTA friendly? Seriously.

How about you educate yourself on the issues at hand before trying to act like a know it all? I can teach you, but you need to want to learn and actually SEE what's going on, not listen to the media and that jitbag Rendell.

I'm not friends with any of you, I wouldn't even give a second glance if you were laying in the street begging for food. ESPECIALLY Chaos.

The problem is when you read that, it does not mention the other issues, specifically the outsourcing of work to out of state firms who are not responsible for the work they perform. This work is often substandard and needs to be redone once back in the region, very inefficient, and dangerous to you if the slipshod work fails to be detected. It is also not very efficient to need to pay twice for the same job.

This bargaining point would probably lower the raise demands and the healthcare input of the employees, but the media seems to have missed that part.

Also, I expect no sympathy while the media continues to show salary demands that high and the too low contribution to my healthcare. (Remember, only teachers, politicians, and CEOs deserve decent wages and benefits, nobody else.)

Seriously though, 3% raises and a 2% increase in healthcare contributions would be a fair compromise, which is a better deal than the local teachers will ever put on the table to a school board.

Hey remember, these busses/trains are what your kids ride on to and from school. Do you want poorly paid , poorly trained people to work on them and drive them and be responsible for their lives for 2 hours each day? Just throwing the same old line out there the teachers use.

Yes. 01 there was no strike as a contract was signed the day the strike was to happen.

HickRocket1258 11-03-2009 04:37 PM

Isn't that how must companies work? How is that any different then most companes. Ex. How many times have you ever called a 1-800 number whether its Dell, Sony, ect.. and had someone who could barely speak English on the phone. Outsourcing saves the company money in the end, or people wouldn't do it as they want to make money. If it didn't work, it wiouldn't be widely practiced.

Have you seen that MOST companies aren't giving out raises. Many are even doing salary decreases so a cost of living raise isn't a reasonable expectation durring a recession.

I didn't grow up in Philly and currently don't live there. But form what I've seen, bus drivers anywhere are typically lower call people as it is an unskilled job. Plus we are still alive. Are people in Philadelphia different? NOPE!

Big_Jim 11-03-2009 04:39 PM

the strike in 98 sucked, i was in summer school that year, and had no way to get there lol

You're still focusing on drivers, and that's not the case here. EXPAND your knowledge!

No, but I can anticipate a bus running a red light... I can't anticipate the 60 fools that take that bus daily that suddenly are driving during rush hour...

Yeah, I forget how much the Regional Rail carries in a single train, but damn, that's too many people driving..

angdefeo 11-03-2009 04:49 PM

I think that most of the people who use buses and subways on a daily basis dotn have cars.

Blah, sorry, I don't follow what's what. To me Septa is one entity, but that jsut shows my ignorance about how it's run... all I know is that my commute is longer now.
