I agree. Its something you do for fun. I thougth that they were trying to justify holding the car for 20 years in hopes of recoping the costs.

What cars made today do you think will be classics in 25 years? I watch Meceum Auto Auctions and i think what will be valuable when we are old. I cant come up with anything excluding the exotics that are super expensive today.

The only thing that comes to mind would be a Dodge Cobra, but that is an expensive car. I think they will become classics espically since Fiat annouced that they will discontinue its production after 2011. One of Honda's lowwest production cars, the NSX doesnt seem to have the collector appeal, and that was a very nice auto.

I guess in the end, it will us who dictate what is expensive based on our tastes.

I still have fun. Honestly, since I became alergic to booze, it really hasn't changed what I do. I just don't drink while doing it. Plus I can drink I just brake out in hives really bad and all that good stuff, but I haven't died yet! lol

Problem with imports, is people actually drive them lol. For some reason, the muscle car community doesn't.

sorry....duhh....i meant a dodge viper. fiat owns 25% of chrysler and they are running the company now. they announced earlier this week what they intend to do with the chrysler/dodge/jeep line up in the near future.

huh, i got word close to a year ago from guys over at the srt track experience that dodge was already planning to stop producing the viper. so that isn't news.

who else owns them now though? 25% ownership really isn't enough to say "we're going to stop producing this" unless they get another 26% on board

HickRocket1258 10-30-2009 01:55 PM

I would love to have a Buick Grand National. Things are so nice. Maybe a Typhoon or Syclone. One day I will have one of those cars.

Scapegoat 10-30-2009 01:55 PM

Roto 10-30-2009 01:59 PM

Its a complex structure that owns Chrysler. Ownership is primarily divided between the health care trust for retirees of the United Automobile Workers union, which has 55 percent; Fiat, which has 20 percent, and the American and Canadian governments, which hold 8 percent and 2 percent, respectively. Eventually, Fiat’s holding will grow incrementally to 35 percent. But it cannot take majority control of Chrysler until it repays money borrowed from the federal government.

Fiat has management control for the day to day operations of the company. There is a complex board arrangement but the majority of the votes belong to the US goverment. I think Fiat agreed to re-tool a Chrysler factory( which can run about $2-$3billion). That was Fiat's price to get control of Chrysler.

The Jeep Commander is slated to end next year. By 2012, the Chrysler PT Cruiser, Chrysler Sebring midsize sedan and Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot SUVs all will exit the market. Chrysler will drop several Dodge products, including the Caliber compact, Nitro SUV and Avenger sedan, but will keep the Dodge Challenger, a muscle car, and the full-size Charger sedan.

i had an 85 omni glh... the 2.2l H.O. N/A motor...lol... i suppose it moved pretty well new w/ it's massive 110hp. I was planning on modifying it for autocross. but at the time i was broke and sold it for $300 more than i purchased it for to pay rent

i will own a glhs at some point... maybe, if i can save money up... granted, they can be found for the 1.5k range in maybe running condition. but 3-4k gets you one that has been worked on pretty decently

grimm 10-30-2009 02:26 PM
