no one would buy it though.

they barely sold new.

I'm thinking perhaps further down the line he may be able to get what he paid for it. but it really is overpriced for what it is... even the honda community knows that.

at this point, the best he could hope for is someone steals it and he make 8-10k on it due to the value of the car

20k is a good deal on something like that though, when it should have been more anyway

see, even though i'm a honda guy, if i had a sti, i wouldn't trade it in for a honda.

either that or park it and store it for say 20 years and it might be a collector piece down the road?

Elliott18t 10-30-2009 12:59 PM

whats the peanut eye one?

thats what i'm hoping for. that the value will go up further down the road. that, and i found out a couple of mugens are already wreck, and some were arlready stolen. so, the price will go up, evil, i know

but yeah, suprisingly, very few people (even in the honda world) thought i got a good deal. it suprising, i got more hate from honda people, then from any other folk

Roto 10-30-2009 01:01 PM

Unfortunately I know people who'd be drooling over it and would pay 25K... I know some ricers allright  He can probably have fun with it for a year or two and break even on sale like you said....which is kinda a good deal.

i don't think parting it and storing it would be a good idea

i doubt it'd be worth it after 20 years either... unless you find someone passionate about the car...

there is a late 80's dodge shelby lancer with i believe under 100 miles on it that keeps popping up online for i think around 18k... it is in beautiful mint condition, runs just fine, been sitting in a garage for that long, has been maintained, etc... while all us 80's dodge fan boys drool over it... it just isn't worth it.

of course, most of the dodge shelby folks are a) cheap and b) want to modify the motor... and you just don't do that to a mint 20+ y/o car.

Leno should buy it...

He will never get what he paid for it down the road. Very few cars are like that unless they are individually numbered and all. Plus the fact that people were interested in them when they were new shows they hold no value. Might be 'worth' more but people won't 'pay' for it.

3rdGenMr2Girl 10-30-2009 01:03 PM

i need a button down shirt from a guy to wear tomorrow. anyone?

jpalamar 10-30-2009 01:05 PM

Speaking of the Civic, there is a guy that works in KOP that has a blue one. I used to work at University of Phoneix and he always parked in our lot. I'm guessing he working for the insurance company or something next to us.

Elliott18t 10-30-2009 01:05 PM

it'll take an adult collector i think. but he should be able to get what he paid for it at some point if it stays in great shape.

course, i'm not basing this off of any honda knowledge... i know with muscle cars its like that. though, i would never expect to get 30+k for my gt 20 years from now unless i kept it in immaculate condition and low low low miles... even then... 18-20k MAYBE

angdefeo 10-30-2009 01:08 PM

you can have one of my shirts.....does it have to be a specific color?

maybe, it would have to be a limited edition of some sort though, really.

like the 100th aniv ones, or if they make some other sort of limited special package soon. Not the GT/CS though, that should get drop in price faster IMO and burn.

We are talking 20+ years old cars and the only reason they are worth anything is there weren't 1/2 as many cars produced back then. But even then, the cost of cars = what is costs today when you add inflation in so it really isn't worht anything :-)

yeah, i don't expect it to be worth much of anything.

but who knows what happens in 20-30 years and how they hold up in general.

but honestly.... you gotta be crazy to think i'll have this car for that long. i'm certain i'll be trading it in with 3-4 years on a new one w/ a larger motor or a gt500... well, depending on what exactly i end up doing with this one mod wise

+1 Sorry Mr. Oakes for the confusion.

angdefeo 10-30-2009 01:18 PM

tying up $20,000 for 20 years in hopes of selling a car for the original amount paid for it does not make financial sense. im just saying.

Roto 10-30-2009 01:19 PM

Modding cars also makes no financial sense...

Elliott18t 10-30-2009 01:19 PM

espcially if your gonna only get little to none, profit.

Foolinaround 10-30-2009 01:22 PM

but we still do it.

those essays were so brutal i felt light headed from concentrating so hard i almost puked.
