What about the new generation S&W Sigma 40ve, anyone have some info/reviews? And please answer only if you have experience with it and not jump on the bull**** wagon
|
A buddy of mine had a sigma in 9mm for a little while. He ended up trading it towards some other stuff. It honestly had the worst trigger of any gun I've ever fired. I wouldn't recommend one for that reason alone. Kinda ugly guns too, imo. Sorry, I'm sure that wasn't the response you were hoping for.

It does help though because you actually know somebodys story. Basically I dont want replies from people going off of random online reviews. But that is helpful to know that your friend did not keep it.
Does anyone have any recommendations for any good pistols (Going to be carried for PP) for 500 or below? |

Glock under 500? You mean used right?
|
I got my Glock with a bunch of accessories for under $400 with only 300rnds through it. My buddy just got a ported Sig P229 in 357sig for under $400 as well. You just gotta look around.

For a reliable carry gun around $500, I'd look at S&W M&Ps, Glock, Springfield's XDs, etc. You can get pretty much any polymer frame small-ish pistol for $450-$550. Check these out... they're some that I found on PAFOA in like 2 seconds. I'm sure if you dig a bit you can find others. http://forum.pafoa.org/firearms-6/11...lock-19-a.html http://forum.pafoa.org/firearms-6/11...ley-450-a.html http://forum.pafoa.org/firearms-6/11...act-black.html ETA: Quote:

I have good luck at gun shops as well as my buddy with the Sig (he got it for that price from a gun shop). I also have had good luck with Cabela's. I got my Sig there for pretty cheap compared to what they wanted for a brand new one. I used the fact that they didn't have the original case for it as a bargaining chip and talked them down a bit before buying it. You'd be amazed at what they'll do up there to make a sale on a slow day.

going to purchase a handgun in a few months when i turn 21, just want it for shooting at a range and peace of mind having one around... probably gonna go with a glock 19 or 23. good choice?
|
^Start with the 19. Easy to shoot and affordable to feed.

So when I move into my apartment, I would like to get a safe for my XDM. Anybody have suggestions?

Oh wait.. you said safe? Yeah I don't do safes. lol. I guess if I had a large collection I would, but for my lone carry gun it stays in Cond. 1 within arm's reach 24/7. I guess I'm paranoid, but that's okay. lol I would think any small pistol safe should do the trick. Just make sure to get one with a key option and not just electronic. |

The factory trigger sucks but its very easy to do the work yourself and smooth it out. Currently I'd say my trigger is just as good as the one on my Glock 26. The Sigma naturally points better then the glock but the sights are a little below par. For the price I don't really think you can beat it and if your in the area your welcome to shoot mine. In fact I've been thinking about selling it to fund other projects. |
What are some good local/whereever for that matter, to buy guns for relatively good prices? I like TargetMaster and their knowledgeable people there, but their prices seem inclined from the price ranger of others that I have been seeing.
And since I don't have money to really spend the Ruger P95 seems to be getting good reviews, and that is specifically what I am looking for. |

Seriously, you should probably be able to find them lightly used for $400 or less. S&W M&P is also excellent (I actually own one of those too :)) ...and as Brian recommended, I've heard numerous respected shooters say if you are only going to own one gun, the glock 19 should be at the top of your list. Personally I'm not a fan of glocks because of the grip angle, but try holding a few different guns and see how they fit in your hand. Some people love glocks. I'm not one of them. If the grip of a glock feels kind of "bulky" and not "point-able" to you, you will love the XD. as for shopping around, gun stores are the last place you should look. Check the classified forums on PAFOA.org, gunbroker.com and local gun shows. Now that the Obama-panic-buying seems to have subsided I've been seeing some pretty decent deals at shows. ...now if only the price of ammo would come back down. :( |

A safe is nice to have for storing the weapon securely if you need to leave your apt unarmed for a while (like traveling to anti-gun states), but if you ever need it, locked away in a safe is the last place you'd want it. |

too snappy?! You limp-wristed nancy-boy!! :-p:mrgreen: My only real complaint about the LCP is the sights (or lack thereof). I've been practicing one-handed point shooting with it though and that seems to be where it really shines. |
