Of all the threads to keep clean I was hoping this would be the one.

Dave 09-27-2007 06:43 PM

the fps is not nearly as important as how much energy it transfers. my .44 mag for example will transfer a little over 1000 ft/lbs of energy to its target whereas your pellet gun might transfer 1

and if you think thats impressive a .500 mag will deliver three times as much. i dont know about you but i dont wanna feel 3000 ft/lbs of pressure ANYWHERE

eric 09-27-2007 09:41 PM

Guns Are Not For Everybody. I Am Realy Glad A Lot Of People I Have Met Dont Own Them. I Like Them For Protection And They Are Just Plan Fun To Shoot! A Great Afternoon Shootin S**t Is Fun.(cans Targets Etc.) If You Dont Want One Dont Own One. If You Do Know How To Handle It Not Just Point And Pull.

^ agreed, i hope the "i have a bb gun for protection" was a huge ****ing joke, because guns arent a joke. when handled with care and respect they are fun but also serve a purpose. i own guns because i not only love to shoot, its my right as an american, but because if something happens i want to be overly prepared. please dont get this thread locked people, it serves as a place where we can discuss a hobby, but also a place where interested individuals can learn more about something narrowminded individuals can be complete d-bags about...

Z3R0 09-28-2007 09:30 AM

My gun owns yours CleanNeon...j/k j/k, but really bb guns are really only good for maybe aiming and shooting [which is very fun]. No kind of injuring or protection.

oh snap yo i want dis piece rite herrrrrrrrr http://www.airgunsbbguns.com/GAMO_Vi...o611002154.htm

and how Im spending my Saturday...

Gotta love $6.98 a box.

ITSTOCK 09-28-2007 11:04 PM

That's pretty dirty, looks similar to how I left my glock after 5000 rounds uncleaned, or my Stag ar15 after, ugh, 100 rounds.

So where did you find it for 6.98/box (of 50 I'm assuming???)?

And just a pointer, if you haven't learned yet, leaving guns with oil on the bed=bad idea. Keep them far away from comforters, carpets, clothes, and the like.

goodfella732 09-28-2007 11:38 PM

Dicks Sporting Goods has it for that price when you buy a case. So 500rds for 70 bucks isnt bad for range ammo. Plus with their rewards card every 300 bucks your spend gets you a 10 dollar gift card. So after awhile you end up with free ammo. Its alot better then bending over at the range. lol.

Both were super dirty from the range marathon I went on this weekend. Those Ranger JHPs are SUPER dirty. I couldn't believe when I stripped them down how gross they were from putting acouple hundred rounds thru them. So I decided to give them a real good cleaning and lubing.

And the towel is there to keep the guns from contacting the sheets. I wish I had a better place but it makes do for now. Ive got the towels and a box of rubber gloves to keep everything clean. Ive also got a polishing cloth to wipe them down and remove all fingerprints and oil. It came with the kit I bought and works really well.

Here is what I am trying to buy next...

http://pic40.picturetrail.com/VOL366.../280097959.jpg

I'm REALLY trying to buy a Zombie Killer lower, but over the past 3 months, haven't see one for sale. If anyone sees one, let me know! This is what they look like.... (Safe/Dead)

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...74/zombie1.jpg

I guess an AK is going to have to wait....again. Oh well. My next purchase will be the last of the year though, as I will have filled my 6 gun quota. I think. Maybe it will be the 7th, who knows. At any rate it's a novelty item that I NEED to buy! I will probably go with another bull barrel setup for it, or I'll SBR it.

OutOfStock 10-07-2007 09:00 PM

wait are those two real?

ITSTOCK 10-07-2007 09:01 PM

Absolutely!!! Tom Sawyer Manufacturing did the engraving of both on a limited number of lowers. The Jolly Roger (pirate) is the actual one that I'm trying to buy, but I don't even know if he is going to sell it for sure.

ITSTOCK 10-10-2007 08:08 PM

A couple more gun pictures...still none of the above. I'm now looking for a company that will roll and engrave a new lower, and the only one that I knew about isn't doing it right now.

Perfect! However, since the new irons have been on, I haven't sighted them in yet. So I won't know for sure until I shoot the damn thing. I used to have the trijicon tripower, and then stole my brothers ACOG, so the irons on the xcr will be new to me. It's got over 5000rounds of wolf alone through it though, zero failures of any kind, and it's just amazing at how much cleaner it runs compared to the AR's. Plus the folding stock is just cool! I also noticed that robinson arms raised the price to closer to $1800 for the same gun that I paid $1500 out the door for.

Are you going to the group shoot on the 20th?

Didn't even catch that post until you mentioned it. Are you talking about the Luzerne Co. one? Sounds like a good time, but I lack the required truck suggested to get back to the mines...don't think the MSP would enjoy off-roading

Yes, the Luzerne County shoot. There will be plenty driving back there, just catch a ride with one of us. I'll be driving, so I can, or just post up over on the site and I'm sure any of us that have room will let you catch the 1 minute ride to the mines.

Good idea. I will have to see if I have time that day. Was that where the pics of your friend with the M82 were taken?

I only know the guy from some of the mustang sites, but yes, that was him with the barrett.

Well I finally was able to pick up my fid card and pistol permit on Sunday the 3rd. Three months and 3 days after putting in the paperwork. I placed an order for a new Xd40 and picked it up earlier this week along with 1k rounds of ammo. Finally got out last night and put 250 rounds down range to break her in. I know, I know, I should have some pictures up by now of the gun, stay tuned for that.

I should be running back to the FFL this week to pick up my other purchase, pictures to follow...

I can't believe this thread has gone this long without anyone posting. Looks like you PA people might have some trouble coming up with the recent police violence. Even more talk of stringent gun laws. Hopefully Nutter doesn't get his way, I heard him on the news earlier saying "...we need reasonable gun laws like NJ or NY". Good luck.

alwaysinboost 11-14-2007 03:27 PM

I bought my first gun, its nothing special, just a little something for home protection. Its a 20g Mosburg pump action shot gun. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but my friend wants to go skeet shooting so hopefully soon.

Next move I make is getting a consealed weapons permit...

Congrats on your first purchase! Any pictures yet?

The only bill that passed today was reporting a gun stolen. I agree with it, and would have been pissed if the others passed.

Skeet shooting is lots of fun. Where do you plan on going? Sugar bottom road up in (I guess it's called) Warwick, right off York road is a great place for skeet. Knockamixon, if the skeet ranges are open again yet (I think they all closed down), is another great place, and free. Just bring a thrower.

Is anyone interested in an HK USP 9mm compact by chance? I'm trying to pick it up, and will sell for the same price that I buy it for, or will trade for an equal value rifle (AK, or AR, etc).

I have no idea where to go. A buddy of mine said his dad knows of a place but I haven't got together with them yet. If you ever go to Knockamixin or that other place let me know, I'd like to come with I'm dying to try this thing out.

What area are you located in?

All these new guns? I will post pics of my late 1800's 12ga? ZULU shotgun, no make or model as it is unknown. Last I had it appraised at an auction it was worth $5.000 in 1999. I got it handed down and it is still on the wall. 48" barrel, 3" plus bullets you can't buy anymore, last I heard made of full brass. I would be scared to fire this thing it looks like an old flintlock with a chamber that opens up to the side.

I've seen a bunch of them for sale (late 1800's) for $500 or less at various gunshows, and on different sites. If you search gunbroker, there's probably a couple on there.

Antique weapons are always cool though!

$500 is not even close, I had it appraised many times and I will never sell it. handmade by some local gunsmith in Lancaster county that was well known back in the day. He also fabricated my grandfather's (handed down to him) custome 30-06 mauser. I have never shot a gun that was so balanced and on point everytime. I'll post both guns when I get home this weekend, time permitted.

I was just saying that I have seen many for below $500, no doubt that there could be rare ones out there, just like MOST late 1800's ZULU 12 gauges sell for right around $100.

Here is one of the most expensive ones that I have seen for sale...
http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=84836025

and the usual value...(around $100)
http://www.gabelguns.com/QuestionsAn...rchResults.asp

Definitely post pictures though when you can!

It looks like someone else is going to snag it up before me, it was $450 though.

I read today that the Supreme Court is going to hear the case on the D.C. gun ban. This should be interesting. Given the conservative lean of the court I am hoping they will rule favorably and say the ban in unconstitutional. It could also have an impact on the election.

goodfella732 12-05-2007 09:21 PM

Just a boring new purchase...
