just kidding, nice pickup, i never liked compact 1911s personally but you cant argue with a kimber

I think i settled on my next purchase... 98 bravo... I want to get into long range shooting, I think the reason i have "gotten out of it" is because the typical range bores me now.

thoughts, suggestions?

Dude I have had my eye on a 98 bravo with the bors set up. Go with the 27 inch model over the 20. I think barrett is releasing the mrad which cost a little more but is nice because you can swap out barrel, bolt and mag for another caliber.

cmr076 10-26-2011 08:44 PM

haha I just texted steve and said If i got the 98b I would need to get the BORS with whatever glass i put on it

and they said the same thing about the ACR so we bought one of them and now the interchangeable barrels are nowhere to be found so I dont hold my breath with all of this multi-cal nonsense

I know what it is, I think the reason the prices went so high is because that canadian kid that got the longest documented kill was using a chey-tec

Nice pick up Brian! I'm on my 2nd one and you're gonna love it. BTW...if you ever decide to part with it call me first and I'll gladly take it off your hands.

99corvette 10-27-2011 07:51 AM

i have seen a few of the mrads for sale, they seem to just be hitting the market. everyone i talk to about the 338 lapua tell me to fire it before buying, because it is a harsh round, but i guess you can say that about the 50 too. new holland gun club gos out to 600 yards so i really been thinking about getting a long range rifle, i would buy a 50 but new holland wont allow 50 cal rifles.

cmr076 10-27-2011 09:22 AM

the 338 isnt that crazy, its LOUD for sure but the felt recoil is less than a 300 win mag

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind!

I'm headed to the range in about 20 minutes to see what it shoots like.. Hopefully I'll be able to get a good grip on it even though it is so small.. the plan for this is for it to become my new EDC.

SvicksTc 10-27-2011 11:39 AM

Received the first round of stuff from midway..

MagPul BAD Lever (love this thing, in theory)
MagPul Pmags
MagPul MOE MVG Vertical Grip (I didnt realized i ordered the MVG instead of the RVG for Rails)

Midways customer service is top notch and with one phone call was easily taken care of and new one is shipping today :)

Still waiting on Daniel Defense Mount, Ranger Plates, Magpul RVG Vertical Grip

Light from Dave should come tomorrow :)

and then I am almost done... I must say the MagPul BAD lever is awesome, to be able to manipulate the bolt without having to leave the trigger (well see how it does when i run it at the range)

Everything should be here before next weekends range trip, then i just need to figure out what stock i want

cmr076 10-27-2011 11:50 AM

PRS or the VLTOR e-mod (that things sweet, has battery compartments and ****)

I like the Vltor, but sometimes i have some scruffy face days and that stock has been known to catch quite a few hair pulls ha...

but for real its on my list, that i am looking at

~Brian~ 10-27-2011 12:11 PM

Just got back from shooting and all I have to say is wow... shoots like a champ.. REALLY loud though

Only had one issue- a failure to feed. Was shooting slowly and after firing, the slide stayed locked. I'm not sure what happened. I manually released the slide and didn't have a problem again. At first I though it was the new magazine but now I'm not so sure.

Any ideas?

ohfivegoat 10-27-2011 12:42 PM

g26 or g27 for concealed carry?? what are some thoughts??

not a bad choice, IMO i'd feel better with a 19 or 23 (compact, not to small, not to big)

ah baby glocks i see, how about a 29 (10mm) or a 30 (.45acp) You really can't go wrong with a 10mm. You can have a soft loading to resemble a 9-.40 or a full power to take down a bear. Any would suffice though, all great guns

Rodder, the farm?

I was just there last weekend! After we were done shooting I decided to let my buddy tow me behind his quad riding his dirt board. Next thing you know, KAPOW:

:eek::jawdrop::lol:

Might be heading over there again this sunday actually if any of you guys are interested. Still got a couple exploding targets left and we might make some zombie targets to shoot like we did last year.

I bet your thumb was on the slide release when you pulled the trigger. I've done it myself once or twice.

cmr076 10-27-2011 02:43 PM

That is quite possible.. my first time shooting a 1911, and with it being so small, I am still learning how to hold it.

I forgot to mention take the factory mags from Kimber and throw them directly in the trash. Then go buy some Chip McCormicks or Wilsons. The factory Kimber ones are known to not feed rounds properly. It gets especially worse when you're trying to run hollow points.
