Like Art and I have been saying, theres a hose or a gasket somewhere thats leaking vacuum out of the engine.

Which would be proved by what? A compression test?

you've got no idea... my headache finally went away... and it wasn't a hangover headache, it was a "standing to close to the speakers while a band played" headache... and now its back...

I doubt a vacuum leak would drop compression in the cylinders enough to throw them out of spec. Have Brandon take a peak at it.

Highly doubt it is a vacuum leak.

Is it common for those Cavi engines to skip a tooth or two on the chain?

If the tensioner is wearing or worn, it's not too far fetched that it skipped a tooth, right?

I haz no sources - just going by what they said. The timing chain skipped a tooth, according to their 3 days of diagnostics.. but no one seems to agree that they're right. It runs fine, just still has a rough idle. *shrug* Any suggestions since you obvi know more than I?

Everytime I had a vacuum leak, it would idle rough but run fine.

She has an Ecotec, both of my Cavs had the power plant preceding the Ecotecs. I've not heard of them randomly skipping teeth and I can't imagine if it did it would run as well as it does. As long as it is running, fuggit. When it gets warmer maybe I'll look into it deeper.

And it doesn't idle rough, shes full of ****. :) At times it rocks a little but it is intermittent. I've had vacuum leaks and the symptoms have never come and gone.
