So what’s next?

- LCA bushing
- Wheel knuckles
- Tires
- Induction (Racingline now delayed until late August)
- Akrapovic

Then honestly just want to drive the hell out of it.

Here are the LCAs with the Clubsport S / RS3 bushings installed. You can see the difference in the video on their page:

Sweet. Same thing that the Mk2 VWs had. Looks like a solid upgrade! pun intended lol

Interested in seeing what the mk8 uses from the Clubsport S. Wheel hubs, bushings, the subframe, shock mounts and software are all that’s listed for the mk8.

Might be possible to do an update later to the R with mk8 R parts.

LCAs arrive today with the bushing upgrade. Waiting on the aluminum subframe, all new required bolts and the Akrapovic

Final piece to purchase are the knuckles. They’ll come next month.

BFI Motorsports ships LCAs with the Clubsport S bushing pressed in, includes new ball joints and bolts for the LCA as well. Makes it an easy PnP.

So the second supplier for the Akrapovic backed out.

Now I’m getting a full refund from Cars245.

Going to try another vendor.

So frustrating. Just want this exhaust!

Domestic-based shops are so much more expensive on this part! Geez I wouldn't have paid this much.

Next up are the LCAs with the solid rubber bushing and lastly, those wheel knuckles.

Whine on decel is gone now...think the car sat for too long and just needed some gear oil splashed around. Did a 100 mile drive Friday to break in the new brakes and have fun. This car is definitely coming along, still a little front end biased in turns but the Clubsport parts should help with that.

What country will your order shipped from?

Latvia shipped with UPS.

Ordered some odds and ends:

- Clubsport S wheel knuckles to complete the Clubsport S front end parts
- European rear headrests to give a nicer interior look, improve rearward visibility and also make lowering the seat backs easier.

Aside from the Akrapovic, now I'm just waiting on the following parts to arrive:

- Clubsport S wheel knuckles and wheel bearings
- Aluminum front subframe and installation hardware
- European headrests

I plan on doing the dynamic Euro taillights and the dynamic side mirror lights too but want to get the Akrapovic first.

So many mods :)

Yup but damn it’s fun to drive!

Replaced the North American rear headrests today with the ROW ones. Another one of those regulations that we have different from the ROW which drives product differences.

Here is the NA headrest:

Here is the backseat with the ROW headrests in place. Better looking and better rear visibility out the back window!

Those headrests look SO much better.

DocWalt 07-26-2020 11:07 PM

I *hate* that we have the big dumb chunky headrests cause Americans are too dumb to push the headrests up when people are using them.

DaveSTi 07-27-2020 09:51 AM

Thanks guys! Yeah I agree, just driving around it’s a huge difference seeing out the back of the car. I can use my rearview mirror now much more effectively. This change probably freed up about 60% of the rear window visibility. It’s a pretty large difference!

Other updates:
- Aluminum subframe is on a plane crossing the Atlantic right now
- CSS wheel knuckles are another 30 days out or so
- Found a supplier for the Akrapovic. Need to order
- Will be replacing the tires with PS4S soon

Subframe has arrived!

Clubsport S knuckles have almost shipped too!

It's coming together, guys. :)

DaveSTi 08-03-2020 04:23 PM

Clubsport S wheel knuckles and HD wheel bearings have arrived!

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c7dc669c_z.jpg

I've also ordered a new subframe bushing to make the pendulum mount go in easier with the new subframe.

Racingline intake - ordered August 28th ETA
Akrapovic - Need to order
PS4S tires - Need to order

Project is wrapping up!

DaveSTi 08-04-2020 02:50 PM

Install booked for the 12th.

Should get it back for the weekend!

DocWalt 08-04-2020 02:50 PM

It's gonna be like a whole new car under there! Not that it wasn't before haha. Curious if you'll notice much

Haha that’s the plan! I hope to have the steering feel of the Clubsport S and more front end traction.
