That's why step 1 is making sure maintenance has been done. Definitely not the car's fault.
|
I've hardly had it a month, as the paychecks come I've been working on it. Week after week it's something new. Coolant leak, top leaking, brakes/rotors, lower control arms, now this. And I was told the timing belt was done @ 80k. 116k now. Yeah it is my fault clearly for never taking off the timing cover and checking, but at the time all I had to go off of was the PO's word.
|
Didn't say it was your fault. POs typically don't tell the whole truth so it's hard to trust ANY of them. Also, any car of that age will have it's issues until they're corrected. It's just the nature of the beast.
|
Didn't have to, I know it was mine. Hopefully there's nothing damaged internally, that's all I'm worried about. And definitely. My last car, a honda prelude, had a bunch of problems as well haha.

usually they just mark up the top of the pistons but u might have bent , put the new belt on and do a leak down test and compression test
my projects coming along well, my SBC 2200 with kevlar disk showed up so i can throw in the trans tomorrow, and ill be able to install the OFH and some other misc stuff on the engine also so hopefully i can pickup a front mount this weekend and hear her run next week |
They typically bend a row of valves. While the heads off, inspect them...or have a machine shop check them out.

Well found out today that the new head gasket I had installed is toast thanks to a not-properly capped turbo coolant supply hose.

Please explain.
|
Whn changing the 16g for my 20g I had the coolant supply lines capped off and forgot to run the bypass line once it was running. Long story short that ended up catching up with me and now im waiting till it cools down a tad to get a better idea of what if anything happened.

Have you done a compression test? Did the car over-heat?
|
Yea, ran over 250 on my water temp gauge for at least a block or two. Still waiting on results.

Head gasket survived! Everything checked out perfectly fine once the coolant system was flushed of all air. Cometic knows how to make a good hg ill give em that!

That is real good news for you then !
If anyone needs anything from a 93' AWD 5spd shell, I'm junking a clean title one on Monday and would hate to see the parts get crushed if someone can use any of them. I pulled the 4-bolt rear out of it for someone and don't want the rest of the car. |
Yea we think the combination of the Cometic HG, arp head studs and the dual fan shroud helped the engine stave off any damage that may have occured. So i definitely dodged the bullet with that one. Quick question, are any of you going to attend the DSMTuners.com spring meet in july?

A few pics from yesterday, Trying to clear out my garage but every time one leaves more come. The 1g is the one getting crushed so if anyone needs anything let me know I'd hate to see someone pay for something online or from someone else if I have it and it would only be getting crushed anyways..

Ummm - Are there any interior body panel clips left? The little white ones? I could really use some. Also the caps that go over the screw holes at the bottom of the center console (carpet area)?
|
I will check today! If so I will just need your shipping info, I wouldent want anything for any of it.
