Just had a nice convo with my dad... turns out that because he is so scared of guns, I have to leave my XDM in Vermont with my mom or I can't go back to PA and have a place to live for the coming semester...

blkZ06 08-03-2010 05:28 PM

Tried that too, doesn't care. Threatened to call the entire family and cut off my access from them if I didn't. He's that kind of person.

I feel like I'm back in grade school here.. :bigeek:

Brian,

Have you applied for a PA LTCF? If you already have one, may I suggest just bringing the gun and keeping it a secret. I mean LTCF does stand for "License to Carry Concealed Firearm." Keep that ish concealed. Plus, any pops that would legit boot you out for obtaining the permits to legally carry is a huge D.

Dave,

I'll trade you my tomcat for ANY glock anytime you want. I had thought about listing the Beretta on Glocktalk as a trade but thought I would get blown out of the water lol.

Even though I don't agree with your fathers piont of view on guns, its tough to go against his decision while you still need to live in the same house. It will change soon enough when your done school so just sit tight.

If you still want to go to the range let me know. Even if you can't buy the rifle now its ok. We can still pit some rounds down range in that or some of my pistols.

Well, I did that. I've had my LTCF since March and he never had a clue. This is what I get for trying to be honest with people.

I realize that. One of the reasons I am so pissed is because it's his house and there isn't a damn thing I can do about it. It's okay though... it's only for four months then I move out to my next school and will be able to live on my own again.

As for the rifle, I hate to say that I am forced to hold off for now... I can just picture him going through my stuff and finding it..

just to clarify, LTCF just stands for "License to Carry Firearms" says nothing about 'must be concealed', it just allows you to do so. semantics i know, but it's worth mentioning. there are tons of people in PA who have been misinformed by their LTCF issuing sheriff's dept. that you must carry concealed when in fact you can carry however you'd like, open, concealed, duct taped to your forehead, etc.

if it was my dad who had a problem with me carrying, i'd tell him to grow up and recommend a therapist to help him get over his hoplophobia. that's just me though. lol. fortunately my dad also carries
