fyi Gander Mountain just had a military/armed forces discount this week. They are doing it again July 20-21, 10% anything in store including ammo.

those are one of the worst, unless you already have your stash.

.45 ammo is impossible to find at wal mart 16 bucks.i seen 3 boxes yesterday and they were gone today while there were 100's of .40 on the shelve along with everything else besides a couple 9mm

everywhere else has .45 bullets for 25 bucks, the cheap stuff too. my dad bought his .45 bullets in bulk on sale from cabelas and still payed 20 a box.

five seven has to be the worst shtf ammo, select places have it, and its not cheap at all. its nice because you can carry more though. i still think 9mm is the best because its a world wide used and popular round, and nato.

if you have a real "SHTF" gun. you should have SHTF ammo, i have 1000 rounds at LEAST of spare ammo for every caliber gun i own... i just dont see a point otherwise... i guess you could club someone with them.

::edit:: a 5n7 is basically a lightweight 223 handgun that shoots at around 2000fps (depending on ammo), sounds like a good SHTF gun to me.. although i must agree if i had to give all my guns up but one it would be my glock 19 9mm

the five seven is accurate, other than that the ammo available make doesnt the gun any special/superior. it was designed to have armor piercing rounds, which arent available to the public anymore. although i love the gun and the round, its something different.

there is only 1 type of ammo available for the five seven currently being sold for civilians.

unless you can find stuff used, but i cant imagine it being cheaper than 5 bucks a shot.

thats not true, through FN you can only get the 195, you can find 2000 found cans of the 192 for 1000 bucks though which isnt really all that bad, and theres a company http://www.eliteammunition.net/57_ammunition.html that makes some cool rounds.

Nice man! I had my eye on that same gun for a while but then my buddy sold me his XDM .40 for dirt cheap, so I had to go with it.

Munky 07-20-2010 11:43 PM

Thanks! I've had my eye on one for a little bit now ever since shooting my buddies. Found this for a steal up at Cabela's today which was funny because I was just bitching about how expensive their AR's were.

such a fun and accurate gun/round

it sucks the 357 is expensive to shoot though.

Munky 07-21-2010 10:33 AM

That's why I went with the .40s&w. Heading to the indoor range in a few to take it on its maiden voyage.
