I know that when you mod you risk breaking the car. Like I said im not in any rush, and Im not getting any parts until I know that they prove a benefit over stock, like how I got my Forge DV, cause the stocker is known to leak..even if I dont mod futher, its still a good piece to have to avoid problems later

xEJ20x 06-17-2008 11:27 PM

Right now....a boost gauge is the most important item you can get.

Well I do want to get one but I dont know where to mount it. I would do it in one of my ac vents, probbably the one on the left but i want to have those functional. i could also get the speedhut one and mount it into the gauge cluster but thats a LOT of work and there are issues with the backlight not working on it. i could also just mount one on the dash somewhere but i dont want to do it sloppy and definately dont want to drill holes in teh dash. id get an a-pillar bar but i want to have maximum visibility.

i guess the best compromise i have is losing a vent in favor of a gauge.

97TurboDSM 06-17-2008 11:37 PM

i thought you said you turned up the boost already? thats what i was referring to. an upgraded DV is a good investment

xEJ20x 06-17-2008 11:37 PM

A small mount on the steerin column or a-pillar will be best.
The vent might be outta your peripheral vision.

Boost gauge is essential on a turbo car - get a prosport gauge, I got a mechanical boost gauge that looks like a defi for 45 shipped brand new

no no no i wouldnt do that quite yet, not without consulting people that know first lol

The stocker is plastic so I got the forge one..the only problem is its a bit bigger so we really had to strech the hoses on there and im not sure if i should give it back to my buddy and get a smaller one instead...what do you think??

Last time I checked...Forge doesn't make a diverter valve for the MSM.

Do an A piller gauge, I have one and it doesent affect your view, espically if its a single gauge A piler unit.

Ill bring the MBC to the meet.. as for the DV stretching the stock rubber hoses shouldent pose a problem..

The only way to see if the stock ecu will compisate for more boost is to get a wideband... I know for a fact the stock injectors arent that big to begin with anyway (265cc).

Cardriverx 06-17-2008 11:53 PM

Also... with a intake you will need a O2 clamp (PM olderguy on miataturbo.net, flyin miata rapes you price wise.). Because the ECU will actually pull fuel because it thinks the cars running rich because of the faster spoolup that the intake causes.

They released a direct bolt-on one..the one i have came off of my buddies gti 1.8t thats why i dont know if its a good idea to run just because of the hose streching

97TurboDSM 06-17-2008 11:57 PM

oh well then tahts my bad. i thought i read earlier that you bumped from 7-9psi. maybe thats something you were considering doing. definitely do upgrade the DV valve. whether it be Forge or some other brand, it will help in the long run

Cardriverx 06-17-2008 11:57 PM
