I'm pushing 21PSI as well .... 35lbs/min MAF @ 6400 RPM's, sees 32-33lbs consistently through the powerband ... car continues to increase the higher I push her :)

Different car though ...

Subie_sleeper 09-06-2009 03:32 PM

Baja had issues on dyno, needs plugs, intake, catless DP. It was around 100 degrees and 98% humidity. Thanks for pointing out the powerband. LOL. That's what I get for modding a less common vehicle. At least it's not JUST another WRX or STI or EVO or SPEED3 or VW or HONDA or GOD FORBID a CHEVY. LMAO

Subie_sleeper 09-07-2009 10:08 PM

It's going to be a sleepless night and stressfull day tomorrow. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the Baja is just suffering from severe oil blowbye due to the new turbo. The other alternative is scary as hell and really expensive. PLEASE don't be the motor.

Subie_sleeper 09-08-2009 09:10 AM

Uggghhh. Sick to my stomach not knowing if I need a motor or not. If my usual luck plays out I'll be ordering a Crawford rotating assembly and spending a ****load of money on labor too . If a miracle happens the catch can and new plugs will stop the smoking and rough idle. (RIGHT) :prayer:

gary 09-08-2009 09:39 AM

ohh relax man. You are wining like a little, well your trans. In the end either it will be fine or you will have a much more powerful truck. I still stand behind my comment yesterday though =)

Hey man, don't take offense, I was just stating my observations as you have already seen. I give you props for doing something different than the typical WRX's that are a dime a dozen anymore. :)

Why the bashing of a CHEVY? Is it bc it's not a Subaru, Honda, Nissan or Mazda like 99% of the cars on this forum that everyone drools over? Ignorance is bliss.

I've heard good things about the new TURBO Cobalts. I've just been completely turned off by American cars in general. Not even so much because of the products but the automakers themselves. I'll take a Japanese car over a domestic any day. Subaru has been slacking for a while too, all of the Subie fans know it but we're loyal for a reason. FWD = wrong wheel drive in ANY climate. RWD is the most fun untill the weather turns ****ty. AWD FTW!

BugEyeGuy 09-08-2009 12:42 PM

Domestic made cars FTL! Agreed on AWD FTW!!! and good luck with the Baja Rob..

Subie_sleeper 09-08-2009 12:53 PM

Thanks Rob. I'll have the verdict later tonight. HOPEFULLY. Pray to the car gods :prayer: AREA1320 .

Go down to the 8:19 mark and look at the times. Once small little FWD car > AWD and RWD cars in many segments. It's not the drivetrain, it's the car, suspension, handling characteristics across the board.

I agree about the automakers themselves, I don't agree with their politics or the direction they foresee themselves head, but biases aside, I found a gem in an otherwise lacking market.

Subie_sleeper 09-08-2009 04:28 PM

I'm definately not bashing YOUR car. I 100% agree that performance bang for the buck is great with your car. I still stand by my statements on AWD FWD & RWD. The obvious advantage shows up when the the bad weather does. I'd get a kick out of AWD drags at island with 6 to 8 inches of snow on the track. It would be 100% tires and drivers determining the wins

RyanG 09-08-2009 07:13 PM

stick a fork in it

Subie_sleeper 09-08-2009 07:19 PM

30psi on cylinder 4. Oh well. We can rebuild it .....
We can make it stronger.......... (YUP STILL REALLY PISSED LOL)

Crawford rotating assembly = $1900
Crawford short block = $5000
+or- a few bucks and not including shipping. I hope I just need the rotating assembly.

Ender81 09-08-2009 09:07 PM

Why spend all that money? Is it for the Crawford name?

Why Crawford? (I know Don is asking the same thing) hah

Unless Ryan knows something, Crawford hasn't had great luck with some of their builds...

Subie_sleeper 09-08-2009 10:17 PM

If the block is ok I'll just need the rotating assembly. If the block is shot the new one is fully assembled with the same parts in the rotating assembly kit. If I can get parts of equal quality for less let me know. I could care less about the brand. I just don't want to go cheap at this point and regret it later.
