I'll be putting in something a lot simpler for now. I guesstimated 35-40K for the engine build up. I few things have changed in my life and I can't afford to start that build up right now. The engine I'm putting in will still match the rest of the car, but just not all out like I described earlier.

Anyways, I've been messing around in Photoshop because I haven't purchased the wheels yet. I do have a set I'm using for now, but would like something to match the car once is ready to come out and play...

I've been having this thought of changing the look just a bit and going a bit more sporty... just crossing a little bit over from luxury to sporty...

What do you guys think? Initially I chose chrome from my two options which were Red strips or chrome strips... but lately I've been feeling the red look a LOT...

This was a very quick photoshop, don't mind the details:

Ok, a lot has happened since the last update...

I've talked to several trim companies/distributors about getting a specific size/style trim with no luck. After searching around so much and not finding exactly what I wanted (sorry, I'm picky. What can I do?), I decided to have my molding strip custom made out of aluminum. I won't be using my chrome strips anymore.

This I find is actually better. I'll be able to anodize them, coat or paint them to match the color of my wheels exactly.

So while TST was down they were finished...

The strips are all done (building them anyways). Sorry for the crappy pics... Next I ship a little piece to the "powder people" to see if they can get it done without warping the strips. If they warp, they'll get painted.

Some pieces had to be done a few times...part of that getting it perfect thing I'm cursed with :screwy: - All the bends are in. That was the hard part being that these are aluminum and not rubber

I polished a little piece just to see what it would look like. Just a quick polish...

Next is the engine...

Detail is amazing. I wish I could be as patient as you are. The car looks like it blongs in a show case. Keep up the great work and I hope you finish it someday, if your anything like me you will never truely finish it. LOL..

Supraholic 03-01-2009 10:49 AM

Thanks guys, yup, it will probably never be done, but at least for now, it should be done soon

All PMs replied as well, thanks!

Here are a few pics that might have been deleted with recent TST issues or I just never got to post them here... enjoy.

Cars is coming along good. This was back in May last year. I've done quite some progress since.

Some of my custom parts from Beech performance. Many more already in the making, including my custom short runner FFIM.

Most of these parts will be polished or powder coated later. You can click on the images to see a larger image.

Have fun!

Dual pump hanger. Good for about 900-1000WHP. I only want 500-600whp with insane rev and response. My custom Stainless steel lines can handle 1000+ WHP fuel delivery in case I'm feeling adventurous. Also custom short throw shifter on the right.

I caught up on the entire thread and commend you on your courageous build. Keep it up, I'm glad to see that others take the little details and make them important too. I don't know how much time and money I spent of replacing nuts and bolts with stainless or high grade chrome upgrades. Any way, I hope you don't decide to go with the red trim wheels, IMHO they are way too trendy and you would be better served with the HRE's if you have the funds. Also take a look at iForged or Kodiaks as an alternative...

Good luck and please keep us posted on your progress.

Supraholic 03-01-2009 06:01 PM

Yup details are important and Expensive!

I've been back and forth MANY times with the chrome wheels, black centers/polished lips, red centers/polished lips, black centers/red lips and I decided on the red lips for now. I can always do a quick change, so is not permanent.

Iforged are junk for the money. HREs are good, but I'm going with Work wheels. I tried getting CCW to make me custom wheels, which they happened to be working on something similar, but I guess they are too busy and I don't want what they have out there now (design wise for my car). CCW IMO right now are the best bang for your buck. Super light, durable, just nice all around...

Ender81 03-01-2009 08:33 PM

Looking really good man can't wait to go for a ride.

Supraholic 03-02-2009 10:08 PM

You will... make sure you bring a spare set of undies ;)

Eclipse GSX 61 03-02-2009 10:15 PM

WOW. Get those red wheels!!

01bb6er 03-02-2009 10:49 PM

wow, amazing! Just went through the whole thread. Quick question, where did you get the brake lines duplicated in chrome? Do it yourself of take it somewhere?

RCC 03-02-2009 11:01 PM

awsome build. deff alot of time and $$ in this car.

i own a mk2 and did a resto on that a few years back.
