The stock one is plastic so it'll break or leak with high boost, but i didn't want the pshhhhh sound so i just went with this one

Yea i dont want the pssh sound either, do you know the website you bought it off of?

I'm running the same one on mine -- Turbosmart Kompact Recirculating. I've read that the stock plastic will leak any time you raise the boost level so I figured it was good insurance.

Idk where I got it from, but a bunch of places sell it. It's like 165 shipped I think

i know man little surprise right :D i totally bitched out on ordering the coils though which kinda sucks but ill get a set eventually. I REALLY wanted to go big turbo and i knew if i spend the 1600 on those coils, plus 250 or so on wheel spacers i know id want, then a lifetime alignment that i know id get id be close to 2k all said and done. That would have set me way back on saving for this, so i said **** it, got some more money together and made the appt. Now I'm hype :P

That's great though man! Although you would really benefit from having a stiffer suspension with all the new power :)

Mind sharing how much it's running you? You can PM me if preferred. Looking forward to the results!

yea it'll get some stiffer suspension eventually, i just wanted to do this first ya know? Every car I've owned has had coilovers, I've never tossed a big turbo on anything :D haha

And as far as price whats on that list ended up being 3600 for parts, labor and tune. I also added a cat less down pipe which was another 300, so all said and done, just about $4k. I sold my ruckus to fund this lol i don't just have that type of money sitting around :P

Lol yea yea we need to find a new meet or really step our Monday meets up bc they've been weak lately. Thinking of promoting the **** out of it on different forums and see what happens

one8turbo 08-09-2012 09:46 AM

Bump bc I'm anxiously waiting for Monday to drop the car off at r/t, and also can't decide on my one last mod before h2o this year (yea it's a vw show but it's always my deadline for one last mod to my cars).

-17x8 rpf1's which will save me about 6lbs a corner
-Coilivers Who's benefits are obvious (car will not be super low, just like 1.5" drop or so)
-sway bars, cheapest option but still a good upgrade for the monwy

you should really do 17x9. the x9 rpf1's look so much better than the x8's

boostedfury 08-10-2012 06:39 PM

Imho I feel if you are only doing a coilover for that amount of drop, and beer plan to adjust the height, mine as well find a mild drop comparable spring and use the extra cash for maybe bushings and sways etc!

Well theres not a lot of shocks/struts available for my car so id be spending basically the same price on a set of coils than i would be on a shock/spring combo. Believe me i have thought about it tho as the springs would have a much softer ride, imo they never seem to sit quite right tho. They always have that saggy butt look that i hate. Even if its not low the "stance" (for the lack of a better word) is VERY important to me.

I would suggest looking into RCE springs. I've done a bunch because of what your concerns are. Ride quality is amazing If you have any questions about them call and ask for me.

drop with rce springs/bilstein struts. Its an advertised 15mm drop which is like .6" lol but everyone raves about the ride quality and performance so i really have thought about it. I may shop around and look at some prices and what not. Bilstein's are actually the only bolt in strut available, koni and feal both make some too but they are just inserts which i am shying away from.

edit: with all this said i am not completely sold on any suspension set up so i will consider any coilover, shock/spring set up in my price range.
