grimm 11-09-2012 08:33 PM

My in-Laws have Erie and they have mentioned how low it is.

Morning peeps. Two more days left of my mini vaca. Then work rest of the week and then off a full week next week. I do like all the PTO days my company gives us. I'll say that much.

jpalamar 11-12-2012 10:53 AM

Bacon cheeseburgers tonight. Can't wait to grill with this weather.

Sounds delicious! How did everyone make out this weekend?

jpalamar 11-12-2012 12:04 PM

Cars & Coffee on Sunday morning... then worked on a Ferrari GTO kit car Sunday afternoon. Nothing all that fun though.

Sounds terrible. What chassis is the kit car built on?

grimm 11-12-2012 12:10 PM

put the hard top on my jeep this weekend. thats about it.

jpalamar 11-12-2012 12:16 PM

I was an old Datsun 240Z. I was really shocked someone would tear apart a mint one to do a kit. The interior looked better then my new cars and was all origional.

The shop he took it to sucked bad. $7000+ to drop a motor in and not finish the job. TB machining was terrible and we had to hone the TB so it would actually close. You can hear the metal binding. The timing wasn't set, the distributer wasn't even bolted down. And there is way to much fuel pressure. It is running now but he is gonna kill plugs quickly until he figures out what fuel pump and regulator it has so we can adjuste pressure right.

Jay speaking of a Datzun. I think that's what it was. Had a 4.8 LS motor running high 8s at Cecil. He drove to the track. Made several passes, and drove back home.

That's Craig. Stock shortblock 4.8 junkyard motor. That thing gets raced every single Friday and Sunday of the season. He's from over here in central PA and races at Beaver Springs every weekend. I believe this was the first time he made it into the 8s. He's was low 9s the majority of this season.

Sounds awesome. Is this the car?

HickRocket1258 11-12-2012 04:55 PM

Yeah that's him. I know what my build will be with that motor, I just need to find the car for it.

mckpat03 11-12-2012 06:00 PM

Yep, he made it up to the dyno day. He also builds a 10-11 second Honda or two each year it seems. I can think of 4, at the least, that he's had in the past couple years.

That Datsun is crazy to watch run in person. When he was up in the low to mid 9s (last time I saw it, earlier this year), it looked like he was getting launched out of a sling shot. It launched and ran SO smoothly, but yet it ran so fast and just dug like crazy.

HickRocket1258 11-13-2012 08:59 AM

Yeah it ran straight like an arrow keeping the left front tire up for a good 60 feet. Was amazing how smooth his runs looked.

jpalamar 11-13-2012 11:05 AM

I feel like its about time for another Shady Maple run...

Big_Jim 11-13-2012 11:38 AM

shady maple sounds good to me.

accordguy04 11-13-2012 11:58 AM

Mmmmm shady maple.

Same here. Was lazy on Saturday and Sunday got busy.

grimm 11-13-2012 12:50 PM

mine was the exact opposite, busy saturday, lazy sunday. I think i'm gonna BBQ a stuffed flank steak tonight, probably won't take more than 2-3 hours. Then i can cook a chicken and the pork shoulder over the weekend. I also have a bone in pork loin i want to try.

HickRocket1258 11-13-2012 12:55 PM

I'm to cheap to get good meat.

Smoking is way different then grilling. You need good stuff to grill but smoking takes the 'junk' meat and makes it fantastic. Pork Shoulder/Butt is less then $1.50 lb.

Come over for a steak and I'll change your mind on the whole too cheap thing.

grimm 11-13-2012 01:14 PM

Brisket has been pricey lately but yea pork shoulders aren't too bad.

The tri-tip I looked at was like $8lb. I was expecting it to be under $5.

grimm 11-13-2012 01:38 PM

yea, i don't know why beef is so pricey lately. the flat cut brisket I got 2 weeks ago was $7lb

jpalamar 11-13-2012 02:34 PM

It still worth it.

grimm 11-13-2012 02:46 PM

certainly was.

Found this pretty cool.

jpalamar 11-13-2012 02:53 PM

I think if it goes up much more I will probally loose interest. Price per pound and amount of work make a simple ribeye on the grill much more tempting.

grimm 11-13-2012 03:53 PM

yea i'm much more of a pork BBQ lover. red meat deserves flames hahaha...

on a side note, I thoroughly hate customer service representatives they make my blood boil.

The beach pic remided of The Day After Tomorrow.

Jay I may have to take to you up on that.

jpalamar 11-14-2012 11:36 AM

Thanks ObamaCare... I have to now spend $100 to go to the Dr. to get a note saying I'm sick and can use over the counter cough meds to be able to use my flexible spending account. Sounds like a great way to save money.....
