Most Eproms go for about $200. Don't spend much more then that.

97TurboDSM 10-26-2007 07:14 PM

yea i wont. i used to have a spare and i sold it like an ass. oh well i'll find another.

97TurboDSM 10-26-2007 07:25 PM

have any thoughts on this? said he would burn me a copy of the software because he got the other stuff for free and is waiting for an offer from me. seems a lil shady but if i can get it for a steal i'll jump on it.

Could you have air bubbles in your coolant system? That will cause boiling no matter what the temp is outside.

97TurboDSM 10-29-2007 02:10 PM

i guess thats entirely possible. this is the only real extended driving i'd done since i got the car back from jnz. not sure how to check and/or fix that?

Yea this will tell if JNZ changed your fluids and released the bubbles. Wonder if they drained it from the block as well?

97TurboDSM 10-29-2007 02:12 PM

i guess that would explain the high temp gauge then too?

turbo4g63 10-29-2007 02:13 PM

just bleed the system out....let the car cool off, open the thermostat housing cap, start the car, you should see some bubbles coming out, just keep putting coolant in till you don't see bubbles anymore. if the temp keeps doing this, just throw a new thermostat in....10 bucks at pep boys

The best thing to do is quick drives around the block.
Start the car up, let it get warm, take it for a drive then come back

let it cool off and then take off the radiator cap and check the level

Fill and repeat

The only way to really make sure there are no air bubbles is to let the fluid cycle wit the themostat open and your water pump running. Driving it around will help the pump cycle a little faster.

me=not having any coolant lol..i'll have to go get some and try that out. thanks guys

turbo4g63 10-29-2007 02:14 PM

did jnz even do anything related to you coolant system?

the coolant might not actually be boiling. In many cases the resevoir will appear to have boiling coolant in it when actually it is just air bubbles being released into the bottom of the container and rising to the top at a fast rate. If this is the case there is air getting into the system. In many cases this is the result of a blown headgasket. The combustion air/fuel mix can be pushed into the coolant system via a leaking headgasket.

Yeah, but wouldnt you get that horrid sweet smell of burning coolant from the exhaust? If air is getting out then coolant should be getting in.

97TurboDSM 10-29-2007 02:17 PM

thats pretty awesome news...jnz flushed and replaced all fluids so im guessing they were in there somewhere. wouldnt blown headgasket cause large amounts of smoke for me?

Lets not freak out just yet. If you arent smelling anything wierd then chances are your gasket is fine. The most logical course is that you have air bubbles since they flushed your system. Sometimes it can take a few tries to completly burp your system.

97TurboDSM 10-29-2007 02:21 PM

thanks for keeping me calm, i dont have the longest fuse in the world..i definitely wasnt smelling burnt coolant so i guess that kinda puts the headgasket problem out of the way for a while. i'll bleed the system and hopefully that will fix me up

su_maverick 10-29-2007 02:24 PM

Yeah, work on the most probable solution first. Where do you live? I have a compression gauge and could erase the headgasket worry in about 15 minutes.

im in west chester
