I'm assuming you have a "chipped" key, and since you have replaced your ECU, your car wont start with the key? With most cars the immobilizer system is integrated into the vehicles BCM... but anyways, Unless you can find a local mechanic fortunate enough to own a programmer, the dealer is your only option unless you can somehow eliminate the immobilizer system itself. Not sure how that will work out if the cars ECU/BCM is vin coded for anything.

I just need the ecu to match my keys chips. Pretty much the car is in lock down and will only crank and not fire up. Since the ecu is used it's been coded to another subys vin and security id.

My security system is fine. I just need the ecu reset and set to my current transponder codes

that's the problem I'm haveing now. Dealers won't do it for cuz it's a used ecu. So I wanted to post up to see if anyone knew a person or that has the tool to do it.
If. Knew how to bypass my immobiliser system I would do it. I'm pretty much so fed up with it right now. Today will be the 3rd week that my cars been down. And it's driving me crazy!!!!

Yeah that sucks, Dealers won't touch that. The dealer I work at won't do anything without proof of ownership. You swapped or something? Why did you get a new Ecu?

Hey dude... I got your PM.
I have the computer to reprogram, but there are a couple things.
1) you're far away and it doesnt sound like you can get the car up to me
2) I've never reprogrammed for the ECU before, just for new keys. I think its exactly the same, but I'm not positive just because I've never done that so I dont want to guarantee that it will work. It should though.
So yeah... proof that you own the car is an excellent idea, but I'd believe that you bought the ECU, thats not an issue since I own a couple myself as to many others.
Anyway, not sure if we can work something out but if I can help I will.

I had to chnage out my ecu cuz 3 weeks ago we had some floods I live in ac and right next to the bay. So my car was sitting in a foot of water and some leaked in. On the rear passenger side foot well. So whne I woke up in the morning and saw it like that. I moved it. Car started right up. Moved and when I pressed on the brakes a wave of water came from under the passenger side seat up to where the ecu is placed. And about 3 Mins later my car shut off and haven't been started since. So after getting my car towed and gutting out the car. Saw water marks on the sheild that covers the ecu. Pulled the ecu and looked at the board and it had water damage all on the bottom half of it. So that's when I got the ecu. And from that point on I've been trying to get it synced. Also I checked my engine and no water in it. And all fluids.

Thats another thing even with proof of ownership and paypal bill for the ECU that i have shown the dealers they still wouldn't help me. Today one dealers said something about Homeland Security! All I know is if i was a terrorist i wouldn't be wasting my time trying to get an ECU synced.

Hmm....I'll ask at work Monday for ya. See what they can do. I'm pretty cool with the parts guys since I started there originally.

Wouldnt your car insurance pickup the bill for a brand new ecu? I would think that would be covered under comprehensive. :)

I've replaced two ecu's (used) and had both programmed at dealerships  Once in VA, again in DE, neither of which asked for proof of ownership. I suggest trying a different dealer.

certain locksmiths have the tool to reprogram it. I know the Apple locksmith around me does it; did my s2k when I got a used ecu as well.

SHE LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yea I called close to 10 locksmiths and none of them had the tools to do it. And today i randomly saw a locksmith at BB picking a lock. Walked up and asked him if he can reprogram my keys and said yes. He followed me home and in 5 mins the rex was up and running!!!! I'm so glad that this problem is solved and over with!
