As of last week this time my car was recorded stolen. Right now i just have to wait a little bit longer for the insurance to send me my money. The insurance company told me that im getting $13,900 back. I have two plans that come to mind. Should i just buy another car right away with the money or buy a beater and use it for a while and save up for an STI or something else?:help:

Thats an important decision that you shouldn't let anyone influence.

I'd save up for that new WRX or STI. Besides, Cavaliers, Citations, and other pieces of GM, Ford, and Chrysler late 70's-80's excrement can be gotten for ~$500 in running-for-not-too-much-longer condition.

Your right man, but i cant pick which one to do. Because there are plenty of nice cars out there for about 14 g......but at the same time there is even nicer cars for a couple more grand.

What's your living situation? How old are you? Are you in school? Do you have a steady job or career? Things like this will help determine your choice.

I honestly think you have a lot to think about in terms of what car to get. Are you looking for a replacement, are you looking to mod. What about finanacing, can you make a nice down payment and have a low monthly payment?
Good Luck sir, its gonna be a hard one to make

I, for one, prefer having lots of money in the bank account. Save up, you can find a decent car for half that amount, keep working and adding to your savings.

Well if the economy is not affecting you like it is a lot of other people I would say option two (beater first and save in meantime). But put enough down so your monthly payments will be low. Just my 2 cents.

Might not be so true with cash for clunkers deal. But yeah, buy a beater.

If your planning on heavily modding a WRX......just get an STI. If I wasnt already down the path of no financial returns I'd sell my stock wrx and get an STI. Plus having a beater is bad ass, I drive my 08 accord to work (the WRX is uncomfortable on the highway) and tear up the back roads in the WRX. Best of both worlds!

I just save the money and get something you really like when you come across it? I am not sure what you can get for 13K WRX wise. I picked myself a Cavalier as a beater car and besides doing a tune up on it all i do is drive it without any issues. If you are looking into a Cavalier or Sunfire as a beater I try to get the Ecotec motor.

Another really great beater car if you're not afraid of something outrageous is a Corvair. Air cooled 4 and 6 cylinder motors, engaging (read: terrifying) handling on earlier models with well sorted (read: slightly less terrifying) handling on later cars, and most importantly, bulletproof. Figuratively speaking, of course. A '61 was entered and never broke down once in the 24 Hours of LeMons. Now, they're more than 500 bucks, reaching closer to 1000 to 2000 for drivable cars but they are interesting beaters, no questions asked.

I cant tell you what to do, but I can tell you what I would do. From ur previous posts, it sounds like ur college age, and Id assume u still live at home. Only thing I dont know is who bought ur car.

But I can tell you what I would do. Im in college and I live at home. If the insurance is giving u 14K for ur 02 wrx, then ur getting more than u could've sold it for. If it were me, I would buy a Manual Lexus SC300 for like 5-8K and make it into a luxury Supra turbo. Or Id buy an M3 and go all out DTM style.

But if u really want an STi, they are only like 3-4k abouve ur price range. If thats what ur heart is set on, then go for it. Buy a RFNTML condition for under a grand and save up for it.

Ding Ding Ding winner..but yeah I would save the loot also instead of putting it all back into a car.
