I am just throwing this out there to see if there is any interest. However, if it's gonna happen, it needs to happen ASAP. The captains meeting for the league I want to join is next week, the 10th, with league play starting the following week of the 15th.

This would be joining the men's league at Northeast Racquet Club (NERC) near Grant and Boulevard for those unfamiliar. The league plays mostly Wednesday or Thursdays, with the possibility of an OCCASIONAL Tuesday games.

I know there are several hockey players on here, so I figured I'd throw it out there. I've been playing on the same team for a while but I have a feeling a lot of our guys are going to part ways.

A goalie is most important. No matter how many players show interest, you can't do diddly without a committed goalie. Anyone interested in playing would have to have money up front, as I can't afford to sport the league fees. Also, if anyone interested could possibly pull a sponsorship for jerseys, that would be sweet, and lower our cost per individual.

So I ask.......anyone wanna play some puck???

few bits of info for this league:
-no quads allowed, inline only
-goalies can play on feet if they wish, but they can;t play the puck out of the crease on foot
- no open face, at least half-shield required
-fighting will get you tossed for the season, no refund

EDIT: I should also mention that the level of skill in this league varies greatly. It is supposed to be broken down by experience but it seems that all skill levels are intertwined. If you are a newcomer to competitive hockey, you are still welcome, but expect to play against SOME very fluent and skilled players/teams. This league has everyone from your average joe playing for fun or to stay in shape....to high school/college players, to even some PIHA/AIHL players.

I <3 hockey but I'm not driving to Philly for it. I'm not being cocky but I could easily score a lot. My last roller league I had a least 2 goals a game.

this is definitely something i wish i could commit to. pick-up ice hockey games were a weekly, sometimes nightly event when i lived in wisconsin, and i always wanted to get into playing for some kind of team. unfortunately at this point i couldn't be committed to anything like this. it really sucks too, i've been desperate to start playing again.

if there's ever anything you (or anyone else) organize like a one day event or something, i'm in.

i know the sportsplex, ive played there. I am also familiar with the hockey dek. It is cutting very close for the winter league. I play all year round, so maybe trying to organize something for the summer league would be better. I know there are plenty of players of here, but i guess not as many in this area as i thought. lol

and just so you know, this is real roller hockey on a sport court (just like sportsplex and hockey dek). A puck is used and all that good stuff. When some people think of roller hockey they imagine street hockey with a ball.

and I am 28...i don;t wana hear shyt about age..lol My league ranges from 17-18 yr olds to some old timers. I am the oldest player on my current team.

Maybe we can work on organizing something for the spring/summer league.

i currently wear Reebok skates. I have 2 old pairs (1 Tour and 1 mission) both size 10.

and for inline i have an extra pair of pants and gloves.

to be honest though. I'd prefer to have mostly experienced people, which means they should have the equipment.1 or 2 newbs is cool if you want to learn, but a whole team of rookies will get embarrassed.

We should try to work something out for the summer to get a big group of people to show up at like a middle point somewhere. I'd definitely be down for that. I forget the name but in Warminster there is an outdoor rink that has full boards and everything.

i agree... that's something i'd be real psyched to get involved in, and i'd be 100% willing to help organize. "TST Roller Hockey Meet/BBQ" sounds pretty good to me. lol. having a bunch of people meet on a specific day is going to be much easier than having a lot of people make a commitment to a league.

there's an outdoor rink near me (close to New Hanover, PA). its "boards" are 4 foot high chain link fences on the sides, and about 10 feet behind the nets, and then lined by wood on the bottom about a foot high. it was made for roller hockey, so the surface is nice smooth asphalt. i believe it's regulation size too.

sorry to stray from the original topic, but i figured i'd 'second' a good idea.
