Imo, this is just akin to a big sign on your bumper that says: "Be suspicious of me, I probably partake in teh pot-smoking".
It just seems to me that all the Dare plates you see are always on modded/tinted cars being driven by 18-30 year old males, who aestetically fit the stereotype of "druggies" or "potheads".
Anyone else ever get this feeling?

or it could be they get it because it gives a discount to your insurance, and that age range usually needs as much help as they can get...

the dare plates do look way better, especially on black cars. However, I believe if a driver with a dare plate on their car gets caught with drugs, the punishment is worse than normal, someone correct me if that's not accurate.

Um NO! I wish I had one for when I get back to the States and throw it on instead of my ugly ass PA plate. I tried to buy one but that was scragged! Yeah im drunk?

hmmm...did not know that at all. Is that for reals? I guess that is a factor. To clarify, I've always LIKED Dare plates, seriously considered getting one for a while. I used to blaze in my cars a lot when i was younger and dumb, but since i don't do that anymore, i guess it wouldn't be an issue.
I just feel like its "wearing a target on your back"
Scapegoat- thanks for your valued opinion. I will be sure to make a mental note. :D

it doesnt matter anyway, they did away with the black ones and now you can't get the dare plates just for looks. The new dare plates look just like the ugly blue/white/gold pa plates.

This. I wanted one for my black car but I when looking around they got rid of the black plate and now they look just like a regular plate.

^^ yup, it sucks. That was the problem though. I'd assume that 75% or more of the people that had the black DARE plates, only got them for the sleek look and not so much because they support the organization.
Now only people that support the organization will bother get them, because they offer no better appearance.

does that mean the black DARE plates are collectors items now???? lol.

there has been several threads on this issue, people asking if its possible to transfer the black plates from another owner. I honestly don't know if it's possible to transfer them or not (the issue got mixed responses), but I do know that the black plates are no longer available.

black plates are no longer available, but you can switch them over if the previous owner has all the proof of ownership and the swap is done at a notary. My brother has one and I had it switched onto my old eclipse when he sold one of his cars.

HIJACK!
I just looked at the site to see the new "DARE" plate. . .gay. . .anyways. I was looking at the Specialty Plates list and noticed that a Jeep Club I belonged to had their own plate. Sooooooo, A thought popped in my head. Why doesn't TST, or a PA "Chapter" of TST apply to get one made up? Here is a pic and links. If there is interest we can start a new thread.

Personally I like them but they scream look at me and thats just what cops do.
Also
FYI: I don't care how much HP your car makes. I don't care how much faster your car is than mine. I don't care that your car was in FastNFurious, and mine wasn't. I don't care about your opinions of my car (if i did, i would ask). Sorry, i know I'm a loser because I don't have a "cool" car, aka. a civic or 240, like everyone else. So lets not waste time on that. K? Thanks.

Wrong. If you seriously think cops look to pull you over for having a black tag, you're way off track. And as far as I know, the DARE plate only gets you a discount for a select few insurance companies, not a widespread thing.

I was thinking about getting one until my mom said that the cops will target people with those plates. (She works full time with cops and my uncle is a cop). I still think they look really nice and its just a sterotype... but who knows

I heard of plenty of people getting off because of their plate since some of the money to buy that plate goes to support the police. And I have never been pulled over, and I should have many times, maybe the plate helped?
I know there are lots of drug dealers and stuff that get them to be funny and lots of people like me that got them for looks, but there are people that buy the plate for the cause, so I can't see how a cop can profile you for having a plate that supports a cause they are promoting.

I think the profiling likely varies from district to district, cop to cop. I doubt that all police are trained to "look out" for people with the black plates, though some might be. On the same token, I'm sure some individual cops do profile. It's the same as how some police are indifferent to fop badges/stickers/plates and some will look the other way and cut breaks.
That being said, keep in mind that not all cops support D.A.R.E. It's overwhelmingly obvious that the fraudulent propaganda machine that is D.A.R.E. has not only proven to be a complete failure, but actually helps to get youngsters more interested in drugs without providing accurate information on how to properly deal with them. Some police are becoming increasingly frustrated with the expensive and fatally catastrophic joke known as the drug war.

I've had my dare plate for maybe 5 years now. I get no discounts and not a single cop gave a **** that it was there. Not once did I think that getting it would get me out of trouble and for the most part no one even notices it. one Time an Atco cop thought it was a Deleware tag.
Seriously, dont be jealous that we all got one and you didnt....

lmao what is wrong with people! I've gotten pulled over ONCE in 8 years with my dare plate,
and it was because i rolled through a stop sign and deserved the ticket. And it's not like I have
had it on inconspicuous cars either. Anyone who thinks a DARE plate attracts cops is a ****ing retard.

you're creating problems where they should not exist. your signature as well as a handful of posts in this thread. you're being combative and generally d.bag-like. you're the reason that your own thread will probably be locked. you've been a member for less than 2 months and you already have 200 posts and a defensive 'disclaimer' in your signature. maybe that should tell you something about the value of your posts and the contribution you're making to the site. hmm.. kinda makes ya think a bit, huh?
