Snapped some pics

OF MY NEW KILLER FISH!!! lol. I had an open 75 gallon at home, and this fish was given up by his owner due to him killing EVERYTHING that was in his tank. I knew the guy that had him before me, and he said he chased a small fish into a tube, and buried rocks on both ends so he couldn't get out, and he died. He would move everything around in his tank until he was comfy with his surroundings. He's flip every object in my tank that small fish could hide under so they couldnt. Well now, he's by himself and one other cichlid that he hasnt killed yet.

He was at the Pet Smart in phillipsburg NJ in there plant section because they didt have a big enough tank besides a koi tank, and that didt go over well. So here he is..

hes either a flowerhorn or just a midas with abnormal coloring....id say flowerhorn......theyr def are evil, i have 3 of them.....two of them are a pair that has prob 1000+ babies in theyre tank right now

theyre just tiny little guys right now......ill have to let you know how many i still have once they grow out a little......i have prob 15-20 decent sized babies too from theyre last spawn...but those ones i want to let grow a decent bit before i decide what to do with them......what kind of flowerhorns do you have?

he used to have a couple evil oscars who were just as big but they got bit up and died hahaha

cool....this is my biggest/meanest one, i got him in feb when he was prob 2.5-3 inches....now hes around 11-12 and just started growing out again, thats why he looks so blotchy....you can kinda see some of the babies in there too

hes really a lot more vibrant then the pics show, i have the pair in a 125 gal and the other in a 55 with an oscar......ive been through prob 10 females or so that he just kills before i found the current one that he likes, they spawn every 3 weeks or so

To the questions of my fish, he's a midas/red devil hybrid. He's VERY VERY rare, and is worth ALOT of money. He's not a true "Red Devil". My local fish shop [not petco or petsmart] could'nt even really say 100% what he is. He's def a mix of either a midas/flowerhorn or midas/red devil.

He is in a 75 Gallon with 2 SMALL cichlids. He will only go after fish he feel's threatened by. For example, i had a 7" cichlid i put in with him, came down the next morning and he was missing scales.

Last night I got an 9" pleco, second i put him in he bit his fin, so I put him in my 55. I WISH i could get a spawning partner for him, but Im just to afraid he will kill it. These fish are expensive to just throw in and let see what happens.

a midas/red devil is a flowerhorn...a flowerhorn is crossbreeding of any of the central american cichlids...hes not all that rare, and doesnt have anyspectacular markings or a very large nuchal hump.....so while hes not a typical petsmart fish hes by no means very rare or worth a lot of money....not tryin to sound like a dick....it just is what it is....and my fry need to grow out some before i can do anything with them....theyd prob die from stress if somebody took some right now

just read the rest of you post too.....he will kill anything he feels like killing ......he doesnt need to feel threatened, he could just get bored and do it fo the hell of it....you need to find out first if its a male or female before looking for spwning partners....yours is hard to say, he has finnage that a male would have but the shape of its head says female...wait a while and see what changes he goes through......also, a lot of the time the flowerhorns with yellow eyes are infertile....not alwasy the case but its a very high percentage....that pleco and small cichlid will be gone soon, count on it....ive found that small catfish make good tank mates for the flowerhorns, not too small but 3/4 the length or so of the flowerhorn will do fine for a while....flowerhorns will try to dominate anything that remotely resembles themselves.(other cichlids).....and plecos wont pay them enough attention to know not to screw with them...so they die from getting to close usually.....the catfish dont resemble the fh....and will learn to avoid it, so they can do well together

Well the pleco and that small cichlid are in seperate tanks from him, so theyll be fine lol. As far as the rarety go, its not that his mix is all that rare, but his color is, and yes, it's a HE.

its good to know someone else knows what there doing with fish! I dont know a whole lot, but Im learning. And as for the cichlids that are in his tank, there under 3", and they feed with him. And as from what ive learned, if they feed with him, meaning go up for food right with him, then he isnt threatened by him.

Now as for when they get bigger, who knows. He bit the pleco the second i put him in his tank, so the pleco is in my 55.
