True story. I tried to get a job at Hooters, kinda as a dare though. I applied for a kitchen position and they told me I was overqualified for the kitchen (true) and I should look to working the dining room floor instead. :bigeek:
It *is* equal opportunity, in a sense. Guys work in the kitchen (kitchen females are usually dishwashers... and out of plain view), girls work the dining room. It falls under some Bona Fide Occupational Qualification rules that basically say that given the choice between a male and a female, no one wants to see a guy in short orange shorts and a push-up bra because it's bad for business and undermines the theme of the restaurant.
Oh, and the guys who applied and got denied jobs at Hooters got awarded $2 mil b/c the courts decided Hooters was a "family restaurant." However, now guys can get jobs as front of the house staff and be called "Hooters Persons" instead of "Girls." And girls can be required to pad their water bras if they aren't quite ample enough.

my good friend Nate was the most personable person you would EVER meet...he worked at EVERY clothing store in the Lehigh Valley Mall and then got a job at Hollister...they had him folding cloths at night and stock durring the day...he was kinda big and not the typical hollister poster type...he tried getting a job on the floor and they denied him and he sued them...they gave him $30,000 to drop the case and he took it...i wonder if a non hooteristic girl who worked in the kitchen of hooters wanted a job as a "hooters girl" what would happen...
