old vids but yeah, i used to run them on my vw a few years ago. some of the best wheels i have ever owned. but remember...
1st vid.... only going about 5mph. it's cool and all, but if he was going a normal speed it would have bent.
2nd vid..... wood, thin metal pole???? try and hit the wheel with a 2000lb car then you will see some damage.
3rd vid..... th line on a mk2 gti is such a sick combo.
no hate on schmidt, but come on.

Even the best drivers in the world have curbed rims, hit pot holes, and even crashed.. Not sure what you mean besides be carefull.. even then - sh** happens.

exactly. personally i think thats awesome that they can withstand that abuse. and to the people complaining about it being only 5mph... try that with your wheels and see what happens to them :roll:

Dude, are you guys kidding me? $300 a wheel is cheap ESPECIALLY if they're aas durable as that!

A grand a wheel sounds about right.

agreed, considering if you curb any regular $500 wheel, you need to spend $500 for another wheel thats not as durable as a schmidt

Remember, these are strictly marketed for the VW guys;
Like when their hand slips from all the hair gel that eventually builds up on the steering wheel, or when they can't see over their popped collar when parking. They have absolutely no use on a performance vehicle (see above).
Sorry VWs, I couldn't resist that one.
But seriously, I argue that no metal that would be made into a wheel can withstand being curbed in a real world situation. Those look to be tricks of the camera with the editing cuts, like the mercials they show of down to the metal paint scratches being removed by a simple polishing agent. Concrete is just harder than any metal that can be made into a wheel. Whatever material is harder = wins the scratch war. If they had a replaceable nylon wear ring, I could see something here, but please don't fool yourselves.
If you put your polished wheel up against a curb, you are doing damage to the wheel, period. The rocks in the concrete are way harder than any aluminum or steel that a wheel is made out of.
