Cliff notes..
Peak to peak stock was
304.8 HP and 315.3 Ft/lbs at the tires on the Mustang Dyno
Tuned Only..no other modifications - Peak to Peak was
335.1 HP and 348 ft/lbs at the tires
Sounds like this L76 is pretty much inline with the LS1.

Eh..the auto and the added weight make it not exactly faster than the older GTO's..however..the GXP should be really cool (6mt, LS3).

If they do that, they might as well name it the Fail Camino.
I like the HSV version, the Maloo R8..basically think the GXP version..if it ever came, it'd be a serious consideration of mine.

My brother just ordered a G8 GT from Granite Run Pontiac. I think he said 8 weeks or something.

Yea, and no manual. Oi. I don't get it..at first it was going to be an auto/mt simul-release, and then a slight delay release of the manual, and now all reports lead to only the GXP getting the manual. I heard it handles like a dream though, and if the build quality of the other Holden imports testify, then it's going to be the best built thing in Pontiac's lineup.

LOL....
<---- pro auto
Its a trade off... my brothers not a road course guy... drag only... plus... hes like me...easily agitated in traffic. Stick + Traffic is extra aggitation to him and me too for that matter.
Also... auto plus properly matched stall converter pwns!

True, but having your balls drop before the age of 30...priceless
jk man. They have certain qualities, I was more lulzing at the fact that the story changes as the stock plummets. American manufacturers suck so much dick it's not even funny.

I would certainly rock one of these things, the interiors are very nice.
However, I NEED manual.

Those numbers are actually very impressive for a Mustang dyno. Pretty much everyone on the GTO boards quotes their dyno numbers off a Dynojet. There isn't that much of a difference, but there is a difference.
The tuned numbers are very similar to an auto LS2 GTO (actually probably a little bit better). This engine has a lot going for it. Most people look at the quoted crank hp of 362 and assume it is worse than the LS2. It actually should make MORE power than a LS2 when tuned as the stock tune is very conservative (designed to run on 87 octane). In addition the L76 benefits from much better heads and intake than the LS2 had. These cars are a cam swap away (the cam is also economy oriented) from making some really eye popping power.
Comparing the G8 and the GTO, I honestly believe that the G8 is hands down the better car, even from a performance perspective. The "better" engine, combined with a well designed suspension with good weight distribution gives the G8 the edge, even with an extra 200 punds on board.
The auto only is very disappointing on the GT. I was going to wait until the official specs and pricing on the GXP were out and then make a choice between a G8 GT, G8 GXP or a used CTS-V. My line of thinking at the time was that a LS3 powered GXP would not be that much of an engine improvement over a GT (especially considering mods) to make the extra money worth it. However, now that the GT is auto only, it is more of a toss up. The CTS-V option only complicates matters more.

8 years of development and less of an implimentation to strip away what the other markets have will do that for you.
