I am looking into purchasing a stand up jet ski. Kawasaki seems to be the most popular since it seems them and yamaha were the only producers. I am mainly finding ones on the late 80's and early 90's and they seem to disappear after 93 up until the 2000's. I was just wondering which models are good and easy to maintain. Thanks!

I have ridden many sit downs. I am looking for something to do more tricks with. I have seen a ton of video's of stand ups and the look like a lot of fun.

sxr, If you want new-ish one. early 90's I would lean towards a superjet

I had two Kawasaki's a 550 and a 650. I got them pretty cheap and were fun ti ride and easy to work on. My buddies all had super jets and they were a lot more stable then my Kawasaki's. As far as dependablity goes I would go with the Yamaha over the Kawasaki.

Are you buying this just to play around on or go on long rides with? If you are planning on going on long rides your better off getting a sit down. The stand up are fun to play with and go out and jump waves and what not but actual riding it turns out to be more work then fun.

i used to raced stand-ups. In the 90's, the yamaha's had better balance and higher top speed. the kawasaki's pretty much had all pick-up speed and a lil less MPH up top, but the kawasaki will always keep u happy. PM me if u ever wanna do mods

Lol seems like I can't go wrong with either but from what I have been reading it seems more people like the yamaha's better. How easy it to mod these things??

depends on the mods, first mods should be longer and lighter scoop, and handlebar spring, after that, mostly engine mods. Cheapest mod is shaving the head cover for ur compression. And kawasaki's are better, lol

Deffinitly post up which one you go with. I have plenty of superjet and kawasaki 650sx parts that you can have. Off the top of my head I should still have two high compression heads and a handlebar spring for a 650sx.

i work at a yamaha dealer, they still do make the super jets, but we dont even keep one in stock cause no one really buys them. if u do want a new one though it can be ordered

so why does no one want them? i know a few kawasaki dealers and they keep selling them as soon as they come in

i have no idea. we sell alot of wave runners, but i guess theres just no interest anymore in the standups.
