click here (http://asianguywithacamera.com/images/2007events/HyperFest_062307/index.html) for a few of the pics.
If you missed it, may be next year. The racing was good. The show was weak. The drifting was a 240 orgy.

Those pics are so crisp! What lens were you using?

Panning shots were with the Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS. Wide angle shots (car show) were with a Canon 16-35 f/2.8L. 95% were with the 70-200, though.

That Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS is a great lens. Some friends were using it down there too. Chris, the results should be at the hyperfest website.
You have any more shots around the paddock?

very nice rice... (is that the same 70-200mm lens i was thinking of getting?)
I gotta start going to some more events so I can get some practice with my panning.

gotta ask... do you feel that the IS assists with your panning shots? i think i remember some guys talking about turning it off when they are panning actually, but that may have been for nikon gear.

The white EK Hatch (Hondaworks) was leading the whole race until the black flag came out. The red S2000 and yellow S2000 could not keep up with the Civic. After 6 laps, the Civic had a 5 car length lead on the field.

Yeah, I have more but I limit what I upload so that some shots are left for print.

not sure - I think your original plan was to buy the 2.8L non IS, which is what you ended up buying. I love the IS, for both panning and handheld shots. When I do interior shots, my shutter speeds will sometimes drop below 1/125. Without IS, the shots come out blurry. The shot of the steering hub was at 1/80, ISO 200, IS mode 1. I've on occasion forget to turn IS on and all my interior shots come out blurry

I've tested it at autocross events with the IS on and OFF - my keeper rate was approx 15% higher with it on. The test was with my 20D (before I got the 1D MKII). With the better AF system on the 1D MKII, I'd estimate that the keeper rate between IS on and off would be less.

I couldn't think of a catchy web domain but this one popped in my head. Some of the people I meet at the events will forget my name but they refer me as "the asian guy with the big camera."
