Anyone apart of one? I may be joining one in cherry hill. Here's their website... http://www.phillymma.com/ I'm probably gonna go check them out this week. I'm doing this to get in better shape not to be a gnarly cage fighter. I just get tired of the same workouts at the gym and think this might be a breath of fresh air. Any thoughts?

Yeah I think its a great idea... something you can work at forever, its great exercise, and doesnt hurt to give you more confidence in your abilities to defend yourself.
one of my sister's good friends owns http://www.bodyartsgym.com/ in Philly and I've been meaning to go check it out but I havent. They also promote the Evolved Fighting Championship fights that are held in the city as well.

I used to train at phillymma and a bunch of my good friends still train there on a regular basis. My one complaint is there are now a ton of people hopping on the MMA bandwagon so it gets pretty packed in there. Brad is a great instructor as are the other guys there so I would still recommend it. Everyone is very friendly and pretty helpful. It is definitely a workout like most haven't experienced before. The Cherry Hill location is fairly new (<9 mos. old) and is fairly big compared to their philly location. Be sure to show up well hydrated, you'll be sweating a ton. You going for BJJ, or MT?
Good luck.

I was just thinking of looking into some kind of martial arts training for my two boys, 11 & 12yo. I'm reluctant to just send them to a local karate school and since I like watching mma, I thought of this.
Any of you guys with experience at these places know if they have programs for younger kids? I'll check the links above, too. Thanks.
I just watched a fight with Eddie Alvarez on TV, he anialated Scott Henze, I think the fight came from Costa Rica.

I can tell anyone from my own experience as a student and a teacher that you should be wary of any school or self defense classes. I cant tell you how many people who took tae-bo and claimed to be martial artists.
location is not key at all, class size and teacher status is what to look for. dont look for a group if you are looking to learn something. Also gyms that offer these classes more than likely cant give you the hands on that is needed to build confidence and skill.
Things that you should look for as training is what you want to happen.
For example: Jujitsu will not give you the same results as a kick boxing class would. The training involved will work different muscles.
MMA is a great thing but choose it very very wisely you could get hurt or end up with false knowleage.

I'll personally vouch for the Philly Fight Factory team...they are a bunch of good dudes.
They can run some laps around some people who coulda sworn they were in shape!
