well ive been trying to sell my car, no luck what so ever, and i still love driving it so i'm contemplating continuing my plans of a turbo build, but im sick of this red color i painted it, its chipping, its not shiny, and for some reason i want it black. but the body is too wavy for gloss black, so im thinking flat black,a drop, and some bronze wheels? black out the tail lights what do you guys think? can some one photo shop it for me?

yeah id go against it, ive never heard of a nx2000 but it looks cool with the t-tops, so maybe its valuable. And that paint would devalue it. Its really hard to pull off a flat black paintjob these days, especially on an older car because it just looks incomplete. On a newer car it looks alright, it all depends how you do it, personally if paint isnt done right, dont paint it.

If you're a body guy, why don't you just do the body work and straighten the car and spray it the exact color you want?

Since you're in the industry, you know how very difficult it is to spray a flat clear, especially black, and on an entire car. Personally, I wouldn't waste the time or money spraying a true flat/matte clear on a car that wasn't worth more. Then again, if you're going to ghetto it and not fix the dings and dents and not use real clear with a matte additive, then just grab some cheap rattle cans and have at it.

Would look awful... Fix it up and do it right.

SR20DET/SR20VE + nice gloss OEM nissan grey = ridiculously nice nx2k. Flat black + beat up nx2k = waste of a nice car.

yeah i was thinking more along the lines of black epoxy primer that we've used on restoration of older trucks, the body is decent, but not mint, i basically painted it because it had decals on it when i bought it and when i took them off the paint came with it, i painted it that red cuz it was free but it came out like poop.... why dont i do it right....i but if i plan on taking the money to sr20det swap in it, i might paint it the oem blue it was before i made it that ugly red. but i am by no means a painter, the shop i work at i do minor, medium difficulty body work and most of the mechanical stuff, my painting skills are basic....occasionally i even run primer lol. maybe ill buy my boss a case of beer this time or something.... lol

better yet, Toyota Thundercloud Metallic - 1D2 is the paint code. Couple that with some OEM nissan wheels.

yeah i think you guys have me talked out of flat black, i envisioned it in my head and it seemed pretty cool with bronze wheels, but the more and more i google flat black cars, i realize how much i would be bored of it in a few weeks,

Instead of flat black, I think the car would look good in a dark metallic red with gold wheels.

personally I like the look on certain cars but it has been played out by lesser "enthusiasts"

Stay with something glossy for your car.

As stated earlier, a nice metallic grey, with some flushed out work wheels in bronze, coils, and a sr would be tits, but the car has to have its body issues taken care of prior, as well as all jambs/engine bay color matched, or it'll never be right.

i think this might be what i do, although i might have to get knock off work wheels, im just a senior in highschool, ill probably paint it sometime when the weather gets nice, get rims when i need tires, and sr swap it when i have a extra grand that isnt going towards the race car, yay for working at autozone/a body shop, so atleast most of my supplies are discounted.... thanks guys, im heading down to easy pull this weekend to check out the possibilities of a few junks nx's that a buddy saw, pick up some of the dumb little parts that are missing from previous owners.

edit been looking through colors, dark grey metallic 08+ subaru's w/ bronze wheels?

if you work at a body shop then just spray your car with black sealer (matte black finish) and drive it for a week. If you don't like the look, sand it and paint your car for real. Do NOT ever put spray paint on a car you want to eventually get painted the right way. Enamel and Urethane are two very different things

The subie grey is pretty hot, another nice one is the lexus metallic grey on the new is350, and isf, awesome depth in the metallic. Knock-off works, or volks will work, but there is no substitution to a nice fat BBK, nice coils, sr20det/vet, clean body/nice paint, lip kit, clean interior/semi smoked tint.
I would tear that puppy down to nothing once you get ready to re-do the body, put it on a rotisserie, seam weld the underside of the car, fix any issues, and undercoat the bottom of the car with something durable. Basically a restoration with new poly bushings everywhere, take the subframe/crossmember down to bare metal with then paint them.

I would start saving now for poly bushings, new hardware, coils(even if cheap for now, just to get it adjustable, with new struts/hardware), brakes(even if its a upgrade from another nissan, rebuild and repaint), wheels(whatever you can afford, noone says you need works, whatever looks good, and fits your budget), and once all aquired, start restoring the suspension, underside of the car. That to me would be number one on the list, because it will make the biggest difference(looks, and handling), and give you that much more of a solid/new/good looking platform to be tuning. If you break it all down into steps/ smaller projects, you wont suffer from all the downtime of not having your car, ( + your less likely to get overwhelmed with your first major project car=less of a chance for this nx to end up in a scrap yard) while still obtaining a complete restoration, and learning more about imports along the way(which will help you pick out any possible issues in the future, and make you able to nip them in the butt, before they become a problem. Thats what makes a good mechanic. Anybody can turn a wrench). I dont care if its front wheel/rear wheel/awd, there are commonalities between most imports of that nature, which will teach you the basics of how these things are put together, the tricks, and whats required to do certain jobs. Its all about gaining experience/knowledge from the blood, sweat, and tears. This is your first car, and its a fairly simple platform to work with. Take your time, learn some ****, and make yourself a beautiful car, I take great pride in being built, not bought.
