I have an OFFENHAUSER triple carb setup and I wanted to see if anyone here has any input on it. I know they're super hard to come by and sought after, but I'm trying to find out as much as I can about it.

This particular piece is my father's and has been sitting for quite some time now. He got it for his '57 Thunderbird but never put it on his motor. One by one I'm going through all his T-Bird related parts and this was what I came across today.

If anyone has any info to share please do!

Yes they are. It came off a 312.

I cleaned it up a bit but that's as far as I'm going tonight.

I don't know if you'll find any vintage Ford guys here. I know theres some guys knowledgeable on carbs and whatnot, but I don't know how much help you'll get on your particular setup.

The only forum I know of is vintage-mustang.com, but then again, I've never really looked for older Mustang forums. You could post up over there. Other than that, just about any dedicated Mustang forum could probably help you out.

Thanks for the advice man. I'll head over to those forums and see if I can find any info on them. The only Ford forum I'm a part of is the Taurus forum for my DD. Unfortunately the knowledge base over there is about as intelligent as a group of autozone employees hanging out at the counter.

Haha yeah, no problem, sorry I didn't have any specifics, but I figured it couldn't hurt. BTW, I'm on taurusclub.com, which forum are you on? They used to have a lot of good guys, but a lot of them have left since the site changed ownership and everything.

Near Keyser, VW there is an 80's fox body with an old Ford motor and Offie carbs installed on it. I haven't seen many Ford parts that old except at car shows. I have a friend that does quite a bit fo work on 50's and 60's Fords. I'll ask him about the carbs next time I see him.

lol

Yeah same one. I signed up back in November when I bought a '03 SES off craigslist. Its been a few times now that I searched for a similar issue I'm having and come across 18 threads all with the same problem, all dying off with NO followup from the OP. I dont even go there anymore. My place I call home is the turbo miata forum (www.miataturbo.net).

If those are the original carbs on the tri-y setup some of those manifold setups have sold for thousands of dollars depending on condition etc obviously.
They were a pain in the ass to get to work properly because the front carb, and hence the front cylinders have a tendency to run lean if used in a drag setup, but I've seen some restorations of flathead motors done with these tri-carb setups and these guys spend MONEY on those things.

Thanks for the info guys!

I'm hoping to get it listed today before the rest of my T-Bird auctions end. I wish like hell I knew about this thing last week when I went through all the other parts.

you should clean it up and rebuild all the carbs make a good amount of money off them.

If those carbs are original, do not rebuild them. Some people that may want it may want the original finish on the parts and if yo rebuild them some of the finished may be taken off by carb cleaner.

I wont be cleaning it up anymore than I did. I don't have the time to invest to rebuild the carbs. With certain parts I'll gladly spend the time to clean them up, even repair them if need be, but with something this old and rare I think its best to wipe off the cobwebs and leave it be.
